Bryan Quaranto’s 7 Tips for Maintaining a Healthy Brain as an Entrepreneur

Your brain has to last you 80-100+ years so it is super important to keep our psyche intact. Our brain is the powerhouse of our knowledge and wisdom. This is why mental health should be your number one priority in 2020 and beyond. Bryan Quaranto, CEO of Dreamwood Media and Proprio X, shares his top 7 tips on maintaining a healthy brain.

Eating

Make sure you eat a healthy balanced diet. “Unfortunately, just like an expensive car, your brain can be damaged if you ingest anything other than premium fuel. “ The nutrients that feed our brain are the most important chemicals that keep our minds and bodies going. It’s important that you eat lots of fruits,  vegetables, and snacks that are brain-healthy, like apples, bananas, salmon, turkey, sweet potatoes, avocados, dark chocolate, almonds, peanuts, and walnuts just to name a few. If your brain is deprived of good-quality nutrition, this will contribute to brain tissue injury, and consequences are to be expected. Serotonin is an amazing neurotransmitter in your brain that protects against toxins, bacteria, and inflammation. Many of the foods listed above are known to boost your serotonin levels in the brain.

Sleeping

Sleep is a very important factor in keeping a healthy brain. Maintaining healthy sleep patterns and getting at least 7 hours of sleep per night is the best method for keeping a healthy brain. Many entrepreneurs suffer from sleep problems due to stress and anxiety, if you can relate I recommend taking a natural sleeping remedy such as melatonin to help regulate your sleep. When you sleep, cerebral spinal fluid is pumped more quickly throughout the brain, literally cleaning out waste products that your brain doesn’t need.

Environment

The environment you are surrounded in can be a very determining factor in the health of your mental state. Your environment influences your mood. Your home and family life, work environment, and friends you surround yourself with all have a major impact on the stability of your mental health. In addition, environmental spaces can trigger certain mental disorders but can also be a protective factor in facilitating mental recovery and stress reduction if created in the right conditions.

Vitamins and Supplements

There are many vitamins and supplements you can consume to increase brain function and ability. Omega 3 is an especially good brain booster. There are many focus pills on the market and nootropics which are basically essential vitamins that help induce brain growth, focus and mental capacity. Medical experts state that several dietary vitamins and supplements are considered the most important part of a brain-healthy diet.

Exercise

Exercise is a key factor in maintaining a healthy brain. As blood flow increases, your brain is exposed to more oxygen and nutrients. The endorphins that are supplied to your brain through the neurotransmitters are essential for the health of your brain and come from daily activity and can be increased through exercises like walking and running. exercise also helps get rid of brain chemicals that make you feel stressed out and anxious. Exercise promotes brain plasticity by stimulating the growth of new cells between many important parts of the brain.

Meditation

Meditation is the KEY to maintaining focus and balance in your everyday work and home life. Meditation can be the key for many of you to unlock your day to day happiness. When we meditate, our brains stop processing the information as actively as they normally would. We start to show a decrease in beta waves, which indicates that our brain is processing information. Even taking 5 minutes out of your day to focus on one thing, your breath will increase your function and ability 10 fold. Starting meditation can be difficult when beginning but after consistent practice, it becomes easier.

Water

Drinking water and plenty of it is a super important aspect of maintaining a healthy brain. On average we should be drinking up to a gallon of water per day. Did you know your brain is made up of mostly water? This is why it should be a top priority in consumption. Water is essential for delivering nutrients to the brain and for removing toxins. Make sure to keep your brain hydrated, it increases your brainpower!
