Jeff Shuford stands out as a dynamic leader with a diverse career that spans technology, business, veteran advocacy, and film production. His story is one of transformation from a decorated Iraq War veteran to a prominent figure in the digital and cinematic worlds, driven by relentless ambition and a commitment to societal impact. Jeff Shuford is the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Review (JISSR), Associate Editor for The Journal of Artificial Intelligence General Science (JAIGS), Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Science & Technology (JST), and the Journal of Knowledge Learning and Science Technology (JKLST), a Harvard Business Review Advisory Council Member, and a nationally syndicated business & technology columnist with the American City Business Journals and GateHouse Media.

Shuford excels at communicating complex ideas and has co-founded Tech From Vets, a veteran-focused technology development company that supports the veteran business community, especially in Northeast Florida. His work earned him the 2017 BizTech Award from Comcast Business. Shuford’s advocacy for veteran entrepreneurs has garnered proclamations and awards from states like Montana, South Carolina, and Oregon, and he played a pivotal role in establishing National Invest In Veterans Week. As stated by prominent Senator Rita Sanders “This week, March 1-7 is National Invest in Veterans Week! This week stands as a time to honor and support veteran business owners and their contributions to our state’s economy. If you are looking for a way to support the veteran community, consider visiting a veteran-owned business, making a charitable donation, or advocating on their behalf. His lauded initiative has received multiple accolades, including the 2021 Veterans in Business Award from The Hudson Weekly. It has also been celebrated for its profound social impact, earning the Innovative Media Excellence Award from the Belmont Star and being named the Best Social Impact Initiative of 2021 by The Ritz Herald. Shuford’s accolades, including recognition from Black Enterprise Magazine as a BE Modern Man of Distinction in 2019 and awards for his social impact initiatives, underscore his multifaceted impact. The holiday was also praised by Congressman Gus Bilirakis who wrote, “National #InvestInVeteransWeek is observed each year from March 1 through March 7. During the week, we honor aspiring and established Veteran business owners and their contributions to the economy. According to the SBA, small business firms owned by Veterans employed 5.03 million people, had an annual payroll of $195 billion and receipts of $1.14 trillion. Representing only 9.1% of all U.S. businesses, Veterans have an unquestionable invaluable impact on economic ecosystems nationwide and here in our community.”

In the film industry, Shuford has produced and supported projects that merge technology with storytelling, such as “Las Vegas PC,” “Stella and the Dog,” and “Modernism Today.” His production support for the short comedy “Family Affair” contributed to its success, earning a perfect IMDb rating and multiple awards, including the Best Shorts Competition Award of Excellence Special Mention and Ensemble Cast. Shuford’s pre-production support for “The Last Fool” also highlights his dedication to impactful storytelling, with the film receiving a nomination for Best Original Screenplay at the Indie Short Fest before its release. Jeff articulates, “As we stand on the brink of a new digital renaissance, it is essential to recognize that the fusion of storytelling and technology holds the power to redefine our cultural and social paradigms. Through cinematic endeavors that blend these domains, we can unlock new avenues for dialogue, understanding, and connection, ultimately leveraging the universal language of film to bridge divides and illuminate the human condition.”

At just 36 years old, Shuford’s accomplishments are remarkable, from being one of the youngest nationally syndicated columnists in the U.S. at 30 to his significant impact on the film industry and veteran advocacy. Jeff Shuford’s commitment to education and continuous learning is another facet of his multifarious career. Regarding the groundbreaking initiative, the Reiss-Davis Graduate School stated “Reiss-Davis Graduate School recognizes National Invest in Veterans Week (March 1-7, 2023). We asked noted veterans advocate and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Veterans Studies, Mariana Grohowski, PhD, to share her thoughts on advancing the cause of veterans and their families. In her essay, “Knowing Veterans, Their Families, Their Stories,” Dr. Grohowski points to the invisibility of veterans in the American mindset – the result, in part, of reduced numbers of active military and veterans, along with the simplistic stories shared by popular media.” His engagement with academic institutions and journals not only facilitates the dissemination of knowledge but also encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering a deeper understanding of complex societal issues. Jeff declares, “The pursuit of knowledge and interdisciplinary collaboration is the cornerstone of advancing our understanding of the complex challenges that face our society today. By contributing to and fostering dialogue within esteemed academic forums, we not only elevate the discourse but also pave the way for innovative solutions that cross traditional boundaries, embodying the true spirit of intellectual exploration and impact.” Shuford’s dedication to education extends beyond his editorial roles; he frequently participates in conferences, workshops, and seminars, sharing his insights on technology integration, veteran entrepreneurship, and digital media strategies. Moreover, Shuford’s advocacy for veterans transcends traditional boundaries, integrating them into the fabric of the tech industry and entrepreneurship. His leadership in establishing National Invest In Veterans Week is a testament to his innovative approach to social change, creating a dedicated time to spotlight and support veteran-owned businesses. In 2019, NFL veteran Drayton Florence and Iraq War veteran Jeff Shuford created National Invest in Veterans Week. Their purpose was to empower the public to invest more in veterans returning to the civilian population through veteran-owned business attainment, access to mental health services, and educational development. Let’s take a moment to thank the brave men and women who have served our country and recognize the importance of supporting their transition back to civilian life.” Shuford’s initiative not only raises awareness but also encourages tangible support, fostering a culture of appreciation and recognition for veterans’ contributions to the economy and society.
