Literacy Kings JaMorcus Trayham and Corey Paul Provide Programs Crafted for People of Color

JaMorcus Trayham and Corey Paul might seem like your average content creators. But make no mistake— these two have a powerful story and mission. As founders and faces of the movement known as Literacy Kings, the two have set out to help the marginalized people of color have financial literacy without the monotony and boredom.

“We educate and entertain. We educate by summarizing and contextualizing the valuable information from each book and entertain by sharing our life experiences, examples, and current events that help build connections.” share the duo known to many as Literacy Kings. In Literacy Kings, Corey Paul and JaMorcus teach their community how to understand better money, entrepreneurship, investing, and podcasting in a simple, relatable and engaging way. They break down credible financial books and synthesize their information in a culturally appropriate way so that the people of color who have been marginalized can learn it more effectively.

Corey and JaMorcus were motivated after realizing that people of color from marginalized communities often lack financial literacy due to a shortage of resources and socioeconomic background. So, together, they came up with The Financial Literacy Program. Despite being part of the group of young people who faced 30% dropouts and without financial literacy, they managed to weather life’s most difficult challenges. Now, they want to share their knowledge with their community.

Corey Paul is a hip-hop artist with over six million streams and two Billboard albums. At the same time, JaMorcus is an honorable military veteran with an MBA and is very much into investments. After fighting poverty and becoming adults, they started to seek knowledge through books, which radically changed their financial mindset.

Paul and JaMorcus also have a podcast called Purpose-Drive Podcast that aims to go deep into financial literacy knowledge. What makes their podcast unique is that by the end of an episode, on top of the listeners having a more solid understanding, they would also have applicable information on the topic they are covering. So by the end of the season, listeners will have a substantial understanding of the main topic and a firm understanding of the supporting material.

“Our listeners can know and trust our information is true because the foundation is based on widely approved financial literature,” shared the literacy warriors. “They can follow along with us while listening and read more about the topics on their own.” Another factor that makes them stand out is that they give in-depth information about a specific financial topic instead of bombarding their listeners with irrelevant information.

Learning how money works, building wealth, running a business, and gaining financial freedom are some of the significant issues that many people neglect today. However, there has been an apparent disconnect between the message and the audience simply because there are listeners who want to be entertained while being educated. As a result, messages on money and finances have become white noise not because they do not hold value but because people find the speakers too dry or not engaging enough.

Corey and JaMorcus continue to share their knowledge with people who need it most, changing their lives. Yet, amidst all the success, they stay humble, hungry, and driven to keep sharing insights and ideas that will teach marginalized people how to succeed in life and take control of their financial future.
