Rae Karim Helping People through Grief Using Coaching, Support, and Education

Grief is a part of every human’s existence, and it can be likened to the sunset on a sunny day. More important than the occurrence of grief is the ability to deal with it and move on from it. Rae Karim’s personal experience with grief has spurred her to learn more about it and use her knowledge, expertise, and gift to help as many people as possible overcome grief and all that comes with it.

Rae Karim is a best-selling author, highly sought-after speaker and writer, as well as a champion for grief and helping people overcome the overwhelming feelings it brings. She’s an experienced grief coach with a rich suite of strategies to help grieving people navigate their grief journey in the healthiest ways possible. She also organizes grief workshops and retreats in schools, organizations, and churches. Her goal as a grief consultant is to empower and transform lives while making sure she ignites courage in them to pursue their purpose.

The Rae Karim brand offers individual and group coaching and uses community engagement to help as many people as possible manage their grief better. Her community engagement drive organizes Pen the Pain™, which allows grieving people the opportunity to express their grief through art,  workshops that explore the theological perspective of grief, one-day retreats, and five-day retreats. These retreats feature workshops about grief, self-care practices, and other activities that lessen the burden and weight of grief.

Many people experience grief in different ways. Rae’s goal is to help them not get stuck in the process. ”I am for those who want to explore every aspect of grief…the known and the unknown, that we’d unpack as they work with me. I am for those who have experienced or are experiencing the grief of people (those who have passed and those who are still alive) and the grief of possibilities, those who have experienced or are experiencing the grief of identity and grief from trauma. I am for those who are looking for a safe, liberated space to lay down their burdens of grief and pick up new ways of being, even in the midst of the grief experience,” she explained.

Rae Karim’s brand draws its drive from not just her experience with grief but also her work as a pastor. She’s well-versed with relating and reaching many people with a huge capacity for compassion and understanding the vulnerability of connecting with a griever. She uses all her knowledge and experience to help people engage grief through grief exploration and expression that prevents them from remaining in a roundabout idea of how to let go of their grief.

For the next few years, she hopes to make grief a mainstream topic and help people revolutionize grief perspectives. She also plans to offer a curriculum to educate people in service professions like doctors, nurses, social workers, pastors so they can increase their capacities for compassion and understanding. “I especially hope to increase the knowledge of grief and grief expression for corporate America, in ways that will increase bereavement leave not only for adults but children as well,” she said.
