Share with us a little bit about your background and what inspired you to apply to speak at TEDxFolsom? 

As the CEO of HiDO health focusing on AI Robotics, I am driven by a singular vision: to democratize healthcare by empowering individuals managing chronic conditions and multiple medications. Our mission is clear: to harness the power of data science to create personalized medicine in the comfort of one’s home. This isn’t just about convenience; it’s about revolutionizing healthcare delivery, ensuring that every individual receives tailored treatment and support.

The decision to apply to TEDxFolsom was deeply inspired by the opportunity to share this vision with a wider audience. TEDx embodies the spirit of disruptive innovation and forward-thinking ideas, making it the perfect platform to ignite conversations around health equity and access. By sharing the blueprint for health, I hope to inspire others to join the movement towards a future where healthcare is truly inclusive and empowering for all. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of healthcare, take action by reaching out to health policy leaders and impact the $4.1 Trillion annual budget for annual care.

Without giving away too much – Can you provide a short summary of what your topic for Reimagine is about?  

AI Robotics will have a transformative impact in revolutionizing dementia care. The talk will highlight the profound impact that AI Robotics could have on individuals living with dementia if they were empowered to care for themselves, reducing their reliance on caregivers. This shift holds the promise of a domino effect, positively influencing not only the mental health of patients but also alleviating caregiver burden and reducing the overall cost of care.  

By harnessing the capabilities of AI Robotics, it’s possible to unlock a paradigm shift for individuals living with dementia, granting them a newfound sense of autonomy and dignity. Through a forthcoming publication of data from a NIA-funded study conducted at Rush University in Chicago, we will showcase the remarkable synergy between AI Robotics and the human brain in mild to moderate dementia cases.

What was your inspiration or reflection point for generating this idea that was worth spreading?  

My inspiration to generate the idea of leveraging AI Robotics in dementia care stems from two decades of firsthand experience in the healthcare industry, where I witnessed significant disparities in care delivery and patient outcomes. These deviations, ranging from differences in treatment recommendations between providers to inconsistencies across healthcare facilities, highlighted the urgent need for systemic change.

My journey further solidified this conviction during my master’s research in clinical informatics, where I delved into the vast datasets of the Center for Medicare Services (CMS). Analyzing various hospital performances for patient care, I became acutely aware of the complex web of factors contributing to healthcare variability. It became clear that to truly revolutionize healthcare, we needed to address the exponential variables that often hindered optimal care delivery.

The idea of creating a blueprint for health, grounded in data-driven insights and leveraging AI Robotics, crystallized as a reflection of this need. By harnessing technology to standardize and optimize care, we could mitigate provider variations in prescription recommendations and alleviate the burden placed on patients for home care and health management. This vision is not just about improving patient outcomes; it’s about fundamentally reshaping the healthcare landscape to ensure equity, accessibility, and quality of care for all.

What are you looking forward to most with your talk? 

I’m eagerly anticipating the opportunity to share our groundbreaking NIA-funded research collaboration with Rush University during my talk. This study showcases the remarkable potential of AI Assisted Robotics in empowering dementia patients, with far-reaching implications for other chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and mental health.

By highlighting the transformative impact of our findings, I aim to spark discussions around the broader applications of AI Assisted Robotics in healthcare. This isn’t just about dementia care; it’s about revolutionizing how we approach chronic disease management and mental health support.

Ultimately, I’m excited to inspire others to envision a future where technology serves as a catalyst for empowering individuals and improving health outcomes across diverse medical conditions.

I strongly urge healthcare policy leaders, advocate groups, health plans, and providers to recognize the immense potential of integrating AI Robotics into home care settings. This technology has the power to empower individuals and alleviate caregiver burdens at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional care models.

I invite these stakeholders to engage in dialogue, collaborate on initiatives, and advocate for policies that prioritize the integration of AI Robotics into healthcare delivery systems. The current lack of precision in medication management at home can be revolutionized with AI Robotics. Presently, healthcare decisions rely heavily on self-reported outcomes, patient diaries, or personal memory, leading to uncertainty about how drugs will interact in combinations. Through AI Robotics, we can bring precision to home medication management, ensuring that individuals receive the exact medications they need with accuracy, rather than relying on guesswork or empiric methodologies. This shift has the potential to transform healthcare outcomes, providing peace of mind to doctors, nurses, loved ones, researchers, and most importantly, patients.
