Shayla Wey Is A Mom Boss To Look Up To For Entrepreneurs and Mothers Alike.

Mom first, boss second. This is the self-proclaimed hierarchy of Shayla Wey’s roles in life, and it certainly appears that she has her priorities in order. The successful mother of two has made a name for herself, empowering and guiding female entrepreneurs and sharing inspirational words with those looking to emulate the lifestyle she has cultivated. Though today her career is blooming into one of notoriety, her humble beginnings can be found in the realm of sales.
Wey began selling knives via the company Cutco while she was a student at the University of Calgary. Eventually graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Wey discovered that by staying with the company, she could achieve both of her goals simultaneously: enjoy a fulfilling and active motherhood role and succeed as a prominent entrepreneur and master of her own fate. “My definition of success is defined by how I can find a way to incorporate everything that is important to me, all while enjoying the journey,” she reveals. Her hard work and dedication paid off. After years of dedicating hours to sales, Wey eventually landed an opportunity to take over the Calgary territory with Vector Marketing, the single-level direct sales company that sells CUTCO®.
From her new position, Wey continued to exact the hard work that had served her so well, eventually leveraging her wealth and prominence in the company to pursue more lucrative opportunities. “Having a growth mindset is so key. Also, having a clear ‘why’ will help you push through and stay focused on what you are building.” Wey advises. The answer to Wey’s “why” appears to be “to enjoy the opportunity to uplift and inspire mothers across the globe.” Expanding the boundaries of her success, Wey has since co-authored the book You’ve Got This, Mama, Too, a critically acclaimed and sought after book available on Amazon. The book is a guide for mothers who seek to live an even more fulfilling life while facing some of the adversity that comes with the responsibility and stress of motherhood.
In a feature video segment on Calgary Global News, Wey outlined the circumstances surrounding her rise to success, her careful balance between leadership and motherhood, and her plans for the future. She is a firm believer that mothers can simultaneously live fulfilling roles as a matriarch while also holding down a leadership position in a business environment. She is quick to admit that her choice to pursue her leadership role through Vector Marketing has afforded her the opportunity to be the “Mom Boss” that she is today. Her knack for time and life management coupled with the business model of Vector are a winning combination, helping propel her to new heights as time goes on.
Wey’s next venture is to start up a coaching group to mentor other moms who are interested in or actively running businesses. The group will specifically focus on the concept of managing a business around being a great mom. With her power and expertise, Wey wants greatly to give back to the community of mothers who seek to enjoy both the unique miracle of raising children, and the sought-after status of female leadership roles within the workplace. A true figurehead of the women’s empowerment movement and a savvy entrepreneur to boot, Shayla Wey is definitely a name to look out for in the coming years.
