2021 Computing School Rankings – MIT tops the charts

The US is seeing a boom in the fields of Cybersecurity and Data Sciences, with more institutions popping up in order to cater to this need. With the process of choosing a university being quite difficult for freshmen and other students, it helps to have a guide to narrow down the mountain of choices available in front of them.

Especially with how many advances the fields of data sciences and computing have experienced as of late, lucrative opportunities are popping up left and right. Many sectors rely on Computer Science graduates in order to man the digital interfaces that these businesses are starting to use. Computing sciences also go into various other topics such as Cybersecurity and Data Analytics, all skills which employers are looking out for.

With the world starting to change from recent global developments, institutions all across the United States have been racing to improve their own respective programs and curriculums. We’ve compiled the 10 best universities and colleges for Computing Sciences degree programs. These universities not only offer a comprehensive curriculum but also give students an edge when it comes to employer reputation.

Now, most colleges will offer various programs in Computer Sciences and Engineering, with institutes like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology pushing it further with their blended majors’ programs. Those looking into the Data Sciences course for most colleges will notice that it’s more of a minor program, something that supplements the major Computing curriculums. An important factor in choosing a college is to see what teaching style they implement within the course, as well as what other students have said of the professors. Information is key, and you’ll need all you can garner to narrow down your options.

The top 3 computing schools in the US according to our metrics are the MIT’s Schwarzman College of Computing, The Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science of Cornell University, and the Georgia Institute of Technology’s College of Computing. All these offer programs that drill students in the fundamentals of computer systems, data science, analytics, and other disciplines which can help them throughout their professional careers.

These were then followed by the University of Utah’s School of Computing, placed at 4th place. Morrison University sits at 5th place, with its School of Computing becoming a rising institution within its field. These universities are poised to become much more renowned academia with their ongoing initiatives towards modernization. We urge students and graduates alike to keep a close eye on these universities.

The University of Pittsburgh and Indiana University are placed at 6th and 7th place, respectively. These two institutions are among the institutions steadily improving their craft within the field of Data Sciences and Computing. Urbana University, seated at 8th Place, is also a noteworthy institution for aspirants in Computing Sciences. Rounding off the top ten is Clemson University’s School of Computing ranked 9 and the University of South Carolina’s College of Engineering and Computing securing itself within the top ten spots.
