3 Ways You Can Improve Your Employee Retention With Entrepreneur Azaan Subhani

Employee retention is among the top challenges faced by human resources today. You might have heard about the so-called Great Resignation. It’s a phenomenon that affected nearly all industries amplified by the pandemic.

Experts believe that employee turnover is likely to increase in the upcoming years. In the United States, a study showed that the number of people quitting their jobs jumped by 20%, from nearly 32 million workers during the pre-pandemic to more than 37 million employees in 2022.

Serial entrepreneur Azaan Subhani said employee retention should be a company’s priority today. “There has been a paradigm shift on what employees want in their work and lives brought by COVID. Undeniably, it’s affecting employee retention,” Azaan said.

Azaan is the current Managing Director of Marlin Strafe. It’s a company that helps many businesses find the best talents. He and his team use technology to connect companies and organizations with modern unicorns. He added that, for example, a company might need to spend up to $30,000 in recruiting and training costs to replace a manager. “It’s quite expensive to replace the people who move out of the company,” he continued.

That’s why as an employee retention consultant, Azaan offers three remedies to improve your employee retention.

Offer Flexible Work Arrangement

Azaan said that remote work is becoming the new norm in the workplace. “The pandemic has shown that people can work without going to the office and still be very productive. If your organization does not consider remote work or at least a flexible work arrangement, you might have a hard time getting the right people,” he added.

He explained that people see employment very differently today than in previous decades. “Being employed used to be a privilege. Now, it is no longer the same. I think COVID-19 showed a lot of people that their time is worth it,” he continued.

Companies have difficulty convincing their employees to return to work on-site. Azaan said many companies now opt for a remote or hybrid work setup. “I have seen it all the time. Candidates are not willing to work on-site anymore. Even if you pay them 50% more, they will turn it down,” he added.

Azaan talked about a candidate who had an opportunity to earn about $400,000 to work on site. “He declined the big offer and opted for $200,000 remote work. Traveling to an office is outdated. I think it’s gone and will not come back,” he added.

Focus On Employee Wellness

Azaan pointed out that employees are more inclined to join companies that value them and their time. He said organizations should focus more on employee wellness to boost retention.

“I think the pandemic has shown that you must take care of yourself, your mental and physical health. You see the big shift that employees are taking right now. Employees are taking back the power in the world. And I think that’s the right way,” Azaan.

Azaan suggested that organizations should show that they value the lives and families of their employees. He added that they should create an organization that promotes personal happiness and values their employees’ mental health.

He said that mental health is a big issue today in the workplace. Many employees have been experiencing burnout in their jobs. “As an organization, you should be aware of the causes of burnout in your workplace,” he continued.

Organizations can encourage employees to do their hobbies or have fitness activities at work.

Get Help From Marlin Strafe

Azaan said that employers can improve their employee retention with the help of Marlin Strafe. “We designed a customized solution for your hiring needs like a tailor creating a bespoke suit for his client,” he continued.

Azaan explained that their technique is looking at both candidates and the vacant role by assessing the role first before evaluating the candidate. “We require our clients to take a similar assessment to determine what a Level 3 candidate looks like. We do this to find the right individual who can perform the job, matches the credentials for the role, and can do it the way the client wants it to be done,” he added.

“Our platform, Strafe Search®, uses cutting-edge technology to find the best candidate to fill the role. Team. We used cloud-based solutions, multiple loads of psychometric tests, and behavioral analysis and testing to get the right individual who can fill in the role and fit into your corporate culture,” Azaan said.

Azaan guarantees that 96% of the candidates would still be in the role after 12 months. “If they quit within the 12 months, we will fully replace them, and you have your money back. That’s a guarantee,” he added.

Moving Forward

Azaan believed that the method used by big hiring companies is outdated and not made for the 21st century. “We want to spread our methodology to these hiring companies. We have the right tools to eliminate all the questions and the gray areas in the hiring process. And make it a true partnership between HR and the direct operations,” he said.

Since 2020, Strafe Search® has played an essential role in the hiring process of numerous companies. It helped organizations across different industries to find the right candidate who will stay long-term in their companies.
