Meta Description: There has been the rise of a multi-billion dollar industry, and that is video gaming. For years now, this industry has been booming. The availability of tools like the Animated Character Maker has paved the way for this industry to thrive dramatically.

The way we play games is evolving from tabletops to virtual reality. The popularity of internet gaming has exploded in just a few short decades. This year, 2022, it is expected to generate $196 billion in revenue, making it one of the world’s fastest growing industries. There are infographics available online that explore the humble origins of the online gaming industry as well as the innovation possibilities that will drive its upcoming future. One of the technological inventions that propels the fast growth of the gaming industry is the Animated Character Maker.

The Beginnings of Internet Gaming

Despite the fact that scientists developed video game prototypes as early as the 1950s, the first gaming console was not released to the public until the 1970s.As a result of widespread internet adoption, the use of video games began to proliferate in the 1990s.

Historically, in the 1990s, the internet became more widely available, and online gaming gained popularity. Steam, a digital storefront, was launched in 2003, allowing video game players to purchase and review online games. World of Warcraft was released in 2004, becoming the first hugely multiplayer online (MMO) game to surpass 10 million active subscriptions. In 2007, the shift from online to mobile gaming began. In the year 2009, Minecraft was released and quickly became one of the best-selling video games in history, selling 176 million copies.

Apple then introduced In-App Purchases in 2009. They allowed people to purchase functionality for iPhone apps. In 2015, there were 1.5 billion gamers worldwide. In 2016, the virtual reality game Pokémon Go was released, earning the most revenue of any mobile phone game during its first month. In 2019, Google Stadia, a game streaming service that lets games be played without the need for a console, is published. It is obvious that technological advancement plays a significant role in driving the progression of playing online games, but there are many other factors at work as well.

The gaming industry is still thriving, with all of this, from PC gaming to console gaming to portable gaming, a huge success. Everyone wants to play a game in their spare time, especially if the weather doesn’t allow them to go outside. You are constantly interacting with other people on the internet, and there are even some fantastic 3D games! In terms of the professional gaming circuit, massive tournament payments for team matches in Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, and League of Legends have become more common. With just those three games, they’re giving away $7 million or more in winnings.

Mobile Gaming Is the Future

Mobile gaming is the most popular platform, accounting for $68.5 billion in sales in 2019—that is 45 percent of the total market, which also involves personal computers and tablet-playing games. This is why the Animated Character Maker has been recognized as one of the top tools for game creators today. Mobile gaming, despite being a relatively new segment of the industry, has grown at an astounding rate, with 2.4 billion people playing the game on smartphones in 2019. Part of the reason for mobile’s rapid growth is mainly attributed to an ingenious and smooth user experience that relies on engaging features like in-app purchases and loyal customer rewards. With 5G, these wallet-sized game consoles have the potential to transform online gaming and make the company even more exciting.

Mobile games generated $77.2 billion in revenue in 2020, with a 13% rise in gamers to 2.5 billion — and the momentum doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. According to a Newzoo report, the global games market will generate $175.8 billion in revenue in 2021 and is expected to exceed $200 by the end of 2023, probably. And over half of all these revenues will be generated by mobile gaming, the market’s largest segment. In 2020, mobile games generated $77.2 billion in revenue, with a 13% boost in gamers to 2.5 billion — and the trend does not appear to be decelerating anytime soon. The global games market in 2021 will generate $175.8 billion in sales and is expected to surpass $200 billion.

Gamers of all skill levels expect designers to use new methods and innovative technologies to move the gameplay experience forward, helping to bring the tournament vision to reality and making it more demanding than ever before. There are a few technology solutions that are paving the way for gaming’s future. With much of the entire planet observing and practicing social distancing for most of 2020 and then into 2021, attention on this billion dollar industry has increased, with people who have never been interested in playing games taking up the hobby. With unparalleled free time, players were able to develop new skills and techniques that could one day be telecast as part of an esports contest as famous as the Super Bowl.

The prominence of more interactive game experiences has grown as a consequence of the rise of virtual and augmented reality. These technologies transform gaming from a physically controlled environment to a partially or completely virtualized, more immersive environment. VR applications have traditionally required the use of a headset, which can be burdensome and inconvenient for users. New wearables on the market, such as gloves and forearm devices, will enable game developers to build touchable elements. This opens up a whole new world of realistic gaming to the masses. Developers can then increase player engagement and make the in-game world even more believable.
