Women Who Disrupt

Anita Pinto: The Latina Designer Paving Her Way Worldwide

Latina designer Anita Pinto was always fixated on the fashion world growing up in Colombia and knew from an early age that she would become a successful entrepreneur and designer. Since then, Pinto, who immigrated to the United States only five years ago, launched her brand MyMy Worldwide, a chic and modern womenswear company that embodies femininity, fun, and glamor through its styles. Most of MyMy Worldwide’s designs are inspired by Pinto’s own style, which personifies a “powerful feminine essence.”

As a Latina designer, Pinto is paving her own path within the fashion industry worldwide. Citing many significant Latinas as her inspiration, from Carolina Herrera to Jennifer Lopez, Pinto is ready to express her distinctive and innovative fashion and stand out in a competitive industry while bringing her Latin background to the forefront.

1. What was your life like in Colombia before moving to the United States?

My life in Colombia was the life of a woman, student, athlete, and worker. Since I was a child, I have had an important fixation on the world of fashion. For that reason, I chose organizational social communication as a professional career because my vision was always to be an entrepreneur focused on the fashion industry.

2. Did you teach yourself to design or did you take classes?

I started empirically because I felt I needed to create my own style that would reflect my identity. After that, I wanted to have professional knowledge regarding fashion by taking courses and diploma courses initially. Now I have a master’s degree in Fashion Design and Communication.

3. What is your design philosophy?

To create pieces that transform a woman’s own thoughts and show her true essence and elevate her identity, confidence, and security in front of the world.

4. What was the process of launching your brand, MyMy Worldwide?

I have had this dream in my heart for over five years. I focused on learning each of the processes necessary to create a solid and innovative company. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to materialize this dream by launching my first fashion collection.

5. What distinguishes MyMy Worldwide from other brands?

Its essence is always inspired by the style and identity of today’s women.

6. How do you describe your personal style, and does it match MyMy Worldwide’s style?

A true MYMY woman is a modern, sophisticated woman with a defined identity. She is fun, glamorous, and has a powerfully feminine essence – qualities that also define me as a woman.

7. What fashion brands/designers inspire you?

Carolina Herrera because she has been redefining fashion and style concepts for over 30 years. Her designers are based on the sophisticated New York lifestyle, but she doesn’t leave aside the joie de vivre of the contagious Latin spirit.

8. What are your favorite trends for the upcoming Fall/Winter 2022 season?

My favorite trend is Street Style as this is a trend that is easily carried into everyday life. My favorite on-trend colors for fall/winter 2022 are Klein blue, deep red, off-white, vitamin orange, pear green, baby blue, mauve violet, camel brown, fuchsia pink, and classic black.

9. Do you have any plans for fashion week?

I will travel to New York fashion week as I am invited to see several runway shows of great fashion icons.

10. How would you say you are revolutionizing the fashion industry, especially as a Latina designer?

Latinas have always had a very unique style in the fashion world and right now we are standing out in a broader and more influential way, generating innovation in the industry.
