Meet The Celebrity Photographer Everyone Wants To Work With: This is Anthony DeLeo’s Story

Meet Anthony DeLeo, celebrity photographer, entrepreneur, and trendsetter all in one; if there’s anyone who has adapted quickly to the ever-evolving industry of Photography, it’d be Anthony. Although his influence in the world of Photography has grown immensely in the past few years, things weren’t always so peachy. In this sitdown with Anthony DeLeo, we get insight into how he combined his business savvy and artistic vision to reach the top of his industry, where he is constantly sought after by some of the biggest brands and agencies that we know today.

Stepping Stones For Success

There’s a massive misconception about the ‘ease of entrance’ into the industry, leading people to believe that buying a camera is all it takes to take remarkable photos and build a successful business. If you’ve ever even used a professional camera, you’ll realize quickly how that couldn’t be any further from the truth than it is. The professional photography industry is fiercely competitive and weeds out those who are not serious fairly quickly. So how did Anthony DeLeo make a name for himself at such a young age in one of the most competitive industries? Read on to find out.

What Served as your inspiration to get into Photography?

Many things inspired me to be a photographer. My Grandfather, who passed away before I was born, was an NYC photographer. As a child, my mother and I would look through old projection slides of his work; it always inspired me. Years later, in my late teens, I did quite a bit of traveling with some friends driving to every corner of the U.S. Seeing the beauty of the country I was born in also encouraged me to start my photography journey.”

What Obstacles did you Face Early on?

“Getting noticed by certain brands and agencies was a huge obstacle. I flew to NYC and went to every brand and agency headquarters I knew of, walked in their front door, snuck/charmed my way through security, and force presented my portfolio to someone there. On the 8% chance I got in front of someone, they loved it, and I’m still working with them today. Another Obstacle I faced was learning the business, building a recurring client base was a huge obstacle. Also, the first couple of years, every shoot I did was free of charge.”

What did you do to overcome those obstacles?

Making sure any work I published was top tier and networking were the biggest things for me, everywhere I go, as well as always finding ways to refine my skill in any areas I lacked in.”

Anthony DeLeo Today

As you can see from the conversation above with Anthony DeLeo, he is someone who’s gone through the wringer of not being good and having to improve in this industry. That process can be accredited to helping him build an incredible name for himself on the other side of the obstacles he faced.
