Dedication & Discipline: How Rising Star Darez Meriwether Is Building His Empire

When it comes to roads to success, Darez has always been led by a winning personality and a willingness to keep his eyes on the prize and figure things out. Learning discipline came early to him, having started work at just the age of 14 filling out paperwork at a military base in Germany. He took that discipline and applied it to his newfound career in the insurance industry. Initially he had some setbacks, basically just winging it on a day to day basis to inch himself and his team closer to the right direction, but took the time to really learn and master the business and get organized. Fast forward to today and he’s growing one of the most up and coming organizations in the insurance industry on the west coast. He’s set himself up and others up with a 6 figure+ annual career working from home and that’s just the start of it.
Darez works with a company called American Income Life, an insurance company that provides life, accident, supplemental health, hospital indemnity, cancer, and critical illness protection plans. Darez has built a business for himself inside of the company. AIL offers a unique intropreneurship opportunity, to which they offer a compensation plan for agents to earn commissions from selling their policies, and leadership incentives for those who decide to scale organizations of licensed agents who are selling policies.
When Darez first started with AIL, he and his fellow agents were traveling to do in home appointments to demonstrate and sell insurance policies, which is how the majority of the insurance industry operates. The COVID-19 Pandemic offered a unique opportunity for American Income Life and its agents to transform from the inside out and start providing work from home opportunities. With the help of leadership from agents like Darez, the company has since then thrived on that opportunity, and now provides an opportunity for agents to not only be more efficient, but to minimize costs of travel and risk to both agents and customers by staying home and doing appointments via zoom calls. This has made for a much more attractive opportunity for AIL to recruit new agents.
Darez and his team are taking that opportunity and running with it. “Nothing grows inside of your comfort zone” is a quote that he resonates with very closely. He’s taken that mentality head on into his organization and into each new agent that he trains. He’s not only a rising star within his company, but is an example of what staying true to your goals and mission can do for you. He’s not slowing down anytime soon.
