Dr. Tori Reddy Dodla: A Prime Example of Why Relationship Building Is Crucial to Success

Dr. Tori Reddy Dodla, also known as Professor Dodla or Dr. Dodla, is the latest best-selling author in the field of knowledge management. Based in the Washington D.C. area, she is a well-established technologist with over 14 years of experience across various industries. Her diverse career includes roles as a SharePoint Engineer, Adjunct Professor, Technology Project Manager, Army Officer, and Real Estate Investor.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Dodla says, “I’m no different than anyone else. I fail and I’ve been rejected just as much as the next person, but I have a lot of resilience. I just keep trying and keep going.” Her determination and forward-thinking approach have been key to her success.

Interestingly, Dr. Dodla’s career began in a funeral home. Initially aspiring to own a funeral home, she later pivoted when she realized that the industry would not support her desired lifestyle as a mother.

Remembering her passion for technology and coding, Dr. Dodla joined the Army and simultaneously pursued a graduate degree in Information Systems. She eventually earned a Ph.D. in Technology, focusing her research on Knowledge Management Systems. Being the first in her family to enter the tech field, the first to join the Army, and the first to pursue a Ph.D., she understood the importance of seeking sound advice and mentorship to navigate these uncharted territories

Recognizing her natural talent for connecting with people, she sought mentors and individuals in tech who encouraged her to explore new career paths. Today, her mentors include Army Officers, PhDs in Tech, and other notable women with remarkable careers in knowledge management. She particularly credits LTC Marni Prenell (US Army), Dr. Laura A. Jones (Carnegie Mellon University), and Dr. Sharon L. Burton (Capitol Technology University) for significantly impacting her career.

These connections gave Dr. Dodla the confidence to pursue her dreams and establish a career in knowledge management, making her a sought-after expert in the community. Her latest project, Mastering Knowledge Management Using Microsoft Technologies, is currently Amazon’s #1 in New Releases. This achievement is a significant milestone for a first-time author.

It’s no surprise that Dr. Dodla has been a Top Voice for Knowledge Management and Information Technology on LinkedIn. Her background in technology and knowledge management gives her a unique insight on building technologies to support knowledge management programs.

Dr. Dodla attributes much of her success to great mentorship and relationship-building. She believes that seeing other women achieve their dreams made her own aspirations more attainable.

If you can’t personally reach Dr. Dodla, make sure to follow her on social media where she continues to share her successes.
