Eliminating The Complexities Of Home Buying And Home Selling With David Bentinck

What’s your backstory?

I wasn’t always the smartest kid in school, I just tried to sit next to him. The funny thing about that quote is that it holds true even to this day, I do my best to surround myself with people who havethe answers to my most challenging questions, in all areas of life. I became a relentless “knowledge seeker. I grew up in Irving, TX and by no means was ever given anything on a silver platter. Parents did the best they could to make sure we never went without and I am super grateful for them.

Mom came from Mexico, worked 2 jobs while going to college to try and provide a decent life for my 2 brothers and I and Dad worked like crazy as well. Their work ethics really instilled in me to become a “Go-Getter”. I learned at an early age the principles of hard work and the value of honesty. Around the age of about 16 or so, I stumbled across influencers like Grant Cardone and Gary Vee, those guys taught me to fall in love with “the hustle and grind”. I began my entrepreneurial venture where I would enter homes that were having estate sales, buying what I could to then later sell for a profit.

What made you decide to choose this career path?

I was going to college really trying to give it a shot and finish after so many years. After a while I noticed how unmotivated my peers were to actually pay attention and finish the school work, I knew this wasn’t the environment for me. Don’t get me wrong, I am all about investing in myself and I believe in higher learning, but my passion for real estate grew after hearing about so many self-made millionaires creating wealth through real estate. Success leaves clues,  and everyone who I was following at the time had real estate as some facet of their wealth.  I was reading a lot of books on investing, listening to podcasts on real estate, consuming every bit of content I could on the subject, I was hooked. So, soon after college, I went off to pursue a career in real estate.

Can you share a story about the funniest mistake you made when you were first starting? Can you tell us what lesson you learned from that?

I think the funniest thing initially starting off was the expectation of what being an agent actually was. I thought it was “sexy” posing in front of million dollar houses and just doing deals “over the phone”, those TV shows really made it seem effortless!  Getting into real estate meant that the deals were going to start flowing and I could work whenever I wanted, right? Well as Mike Tyson would say, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.” Well, I had a full tuition ride to the  “School of Hard Knocks”. Several months in and I still had zero deals. When I finally had a client, I showed them a home and didn’t even know how to open the Supra lockbox! They didn’t end up buying anyways.

I almost became another statistic of failing out the first year! I refused. I sought mentorship from Nick Good who ran a mega team locally who quickly taught me how to run an actual real estate business. My business took off thereafter. I realized after that there is a shortcut to success. Finding someone who has done or is doing what you want to do and you learn as much as you possibly can from them.  I believe that modeling is the shortcut to success. If I could go back and do it again, I would get a direct, accessible mentor from the start who has the results that I wanted and put myself in their proximity.

What do you think makes your company/personal brand stand out?

The key goal for me is to eliminate the complexities of home buying and home selling for our clients. I was up for the challenge and determined to change the reputation people hold for agents. I became obsessed with innovating the process of buying and selling, making the experience better for my clients. I did this by becoming a Certified Home Selling Advisor through the National Association of Expert Advisors.

My passion to improve the quality of the real estate process, earned me widespread recognition throughout the Dallas Fort Worth Market place, including winning the 2021’s “Rise and Grind” Hardest Working Realtor Award. Impressed, other real estate professionals across the country started to seek my advice and end up partnering with me on a nationwide level through the eXp Realty model. I enjoy helping other agents and under the eXp model I have the opportunity to help many others and change their lives at the same time, which landed me winning eXp Realty’s 2022 Top Central Region Influencer award. I am a stubborn visionary with a huge heart. I believe in creating leaders, who create leaders.

What’s a quote that you live by?

Nowhere where I want to be in life just yet but I know for a fact where I am heading. My favorite quote is  “See you at the top, or from the top” as it fits well.
