Here we sit down with Courtney, to know a bit more about her journey as a psychic business coach.
Q. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur?
Courtney: I never felt that I fit in growing up and that stayed true in most jobs that I tried. I felt like an outsider, misunderstood and not seen for my gifts, which left me unmotivated and uninspired to stay at the job. I always felt working for others was a job, not a career. Not something I was ever passionate about. After hitting rock bottom and facing challenges with my mental health, I knew that I had so much more to offer the world if I could show up and be seen for my gifts. I took the risk – which I always took leaps – and the business moved fast. I never looked back.
Q. How did you get started?
Courtney: I was working as a publicist in the entertainment space. I saw what it was like to work in an environment that was not always authentic, and it challenged me to look at my own authenticity. The days were long and the work was exhausting. And I didn’t love the work like I thought I would in the beginning. I ended up making myself sick and struggled with mental health challenges. I’ve always been a huge advocate for myself, so I used my struggles to inspire others. I went back to school to become a social worker. I had also known that I could see spirit since I was a little girl. I found myself at an event where a well-known psychic called me out in the audience and told me that I absolutely had to use my gifts to serve others. That this was my calling. That moment changed my life and from that moment, I decided my mission was going to be to bring together my psychic abilities and my love for therapeutic approaches.
Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
Courtney: Trusting too quickly. I grew quickly and wanted the help. So I hired interns and staff. I always want to see the good in people – that’s my nature. I was let down by the people I brought onto my team. I learned to take my time and slow down. Not to rush through steps. I was fine on my own but I was trying to hurry through to the next level. I also didn’t properly interview the people I brought on, I went by first impressions and energy and my lesson was to spend more time learning about their talents and where they could contribute to the business along with their work history.
Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing You’ve Done Since you Started your Business?
Courtney: I have been asked to work with kids! People have loved my energy so much and heard me on the radio and seen me in the press, that I have been asked to work with psychic children. What an honor it’s been to inspire a younger generation. It’s been amazing to be featured in the press, work with celebrity clients, and be approached for tv shows as well.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
Courtney: I love Abraham Hicks’s books and I’ve learned so much from them. She is a staple in the spiritual space and someone who will inspire you to grow and be your most authentic self. The Law of Attraction book is a great place to start if you are starting your spiritual journey or want to deepen your relationship with spirit.
Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
Courtney: To impact each woman to rise into her gifts and talents. To trust her dreams and her psychic abilities because they will lead her places. To lead women to create a massive impact in this world and create fulfilling opportunities for themselves that are aligned and that feel good. To know that everything they have gone through, their mess, is their message to heal others and change the world.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
Courtney: To keep pushing forward, even when it feels challenging or difficult because any dream that we can see for ourselves is a reality we can manifest.
