Women Who Disrupt
Former Love Island Star, Caroline Viehweg, Launches Alchemy Curls WIth Goal To Help Girls Embrace Their Natural Beauty

“Once you truly embrace your natural beauty, the confidence is unbreakable. Confidence that doesn’t come from just your looks is unbreakable.”
Caro Viehweg grew up in Brazil where she watched her mom run a hair salon. Catering to customers with textured hair, her mom’s salon specialized in products, weaves, and natural products to protect their clients hair and give them a boost of confidence. Naturally, Caro fell in love with her naturally curly hair and the process of keeping hair healthy. However, when she grew older, she found herself getting away from her upbringing. Following a move to Europe with her dad, she tried to mimic those around her by constantly straightening her hair and wearing wigs. The constant strain on her hair left her with damaged hair and lacking confidence.
Starting Over In America
In 2017, she moved to the U.S. but continued to wear wigs. Up until embracing her natural hair again, she was so out of touch with her natural self that she would wear curly wigs although her hair was already naturally curly. “I hid under wigs and pretended that it was my own hair but found myself at a point where I didn’t want to keep hiding under the wigs, so I embarked on my natural hair journey,” she said. This journey was largely encouraged by Caro’s time starring on the tv show Love Island where she received a large amount of positive feedback for her hair. Armed with confidence and a community, she said goodbye to wigs and never again straightened her hair.
“The encouragement was nice, but I also found a community of other curly hair girls. That was important for me.” she said.
Launching Alchemy Curls
“I was searching for the perfect formula and found it. I decided to use it and create a brand,” she said.
Following her time on the show, Caro began experimenting with different products for treating her curly hair that wasn’t damaging. She tried strong hold gels, but those weighed down her curls. She tried other products that were popular among the curly hair community but still had damaging chemicals. Nothing on the market was working until she found the perfect formula. “It was the perfect formula that had a good hold and was healthy for my hair.”
Her product is a leave-in defining gel that has a lightweight formula that prevents product build up and seals curls perfectly at the end of the regular curly hair routine. The product gives definitions that leave-in gels do not give. It also has a healthy list of moisturizing ingredients such as Honey and Babassu Oil to keep the hair healthy while avoiding sticky residue that reduces the natural flow of your hair.
Building A Curly Hair Community
“Before I started my own journey, I felt isolated and so I wasn’t embracing my curls,” Caro said.
With the success of her one product in Alchemy Curls, Caro plans to launch two more products this year and continue to build a community for all the curly girls out there. She wants to create a community of curly haired people to share educational, funny, and community online.
Other competitors will promote their products to be “curly hair approved” which insinuates that the ingredients are not harsh and do not have silicone in them. But after a quick analysis, it is obvious that those products have alcohol which is harsh on curly hair. Alchemy Curls does not have any alcohol, silicone, or harsh ingredients. No ingredients are hidden from consumers either, creating a healthy product for the curly haired people out there!
“Be willing to start as you are. When I started my journey, I wanted to wait until my hair got longer. When it got longer, I told myself that I was delaying the process. You don’t have to wait for your hair to be a certain length or for your curls to be at a certain health,” Caro said.
Embracing your hair confidence is the first step, and Alchemy Curls can help you reach this embrace. For more information on Alchemy Curls, the founder, and its products, visit www.alchemycurls.com.
