Women Who Disrupt

From a Prison To a Palace… How Dr. Calandra Robinson Broke The Shackles

You might be as astonished as we were when hearing the women’s story, or you might be asking where this lady pop up from. Dr. Calandra Brown-Robinson is a true inspiration. Her remarkable journey from prison inmate to a respected orator, successful businesswoman, and humanitarian is nothing short of miraculous. As a former inmate, Calandra understands the struggles of those in the prison system. She is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals in our prison and penal institutions.

Finding herself in a real tough spot after facing 42 months of a 48 month federal prison sentence, Calandra vowed to never get herself trapped in a spot like that again. Now of course we can continue without answering the luring question… What Did She Do? Well she has no shame in her game to share her story and how she became known as a number- 02539-095. Her Federal Prison Inmate Number, after being behind bars for stealing over $1.3M through kiting and bank fraud. But let us say, she is not that girl anymore, she’s DR. Calandra Brown Robinson now, with a full 360 change. Still a millionaire, but now legally. She even has her own prison roommate as a valued and successful business partner.

In December 2022, she founded “Blessing Beyond the Bars”, an organization that provides Christmas toys to the children of incarcerated parents. In just eight days, she successfully blessed 102 children and families.

Calandra’s passion to serve and change lives goes beyond the prison system. In 2016, she opened The Learning Tree Academy, a 24-hour daycare and preschool, with the goal of transforming lives and building confidence in younger generations. She also founded “Ladies Walking in Purpose”, an organization that mentors and empowers women to discover their true God-given purpose as she describes. In addition to her humanitarian efforts, Calandra is a successful businesswoman. She is the founder of IAmSkyn Skincare, a beauty and skincare line that encourages proper skin regimes and promotes self-love in women across the globe.

Calandra’s educational achievements are equally impressive. She completed the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program at Delta College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theology, a Master of Arts Degree in Theology, and a Doctorate Degree in Christian Biblical Psychology from Hope Bible Institute. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations from Southern University A&M College, where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Calandra’s stage presence, tenacity, perseverance, and coaching tools have opened doors for and assisted others with their goals, purpose, and paths to freedom. Her mission is to help others gain a positive mindset, which ultimately catapults them into their season of power.

Dr. Calandra Brown-Robinson is an extraordinary businesswoman and humanitarian who has transformed her life in miraculous ways. Her enthusiasm to serve and change lives beyond the surface stems from her journey to freedom, education, and business growth. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance, determination, and the human spirit.
