Gohso Talks Music, Inspiration & Creative Within The Music Industry

Detroit artist Gohso is on the rise to stardom. Her lifelong passion of music has inspired her to enter the profession as a recording artist, adding to her experience in the sector as a manager. Gohso’s inspiration behind making her music goes to first and foremost GOD, as she comments that the best advice she has ever been given is “Jesus Christ is my Lord & Savior, so I always forgive and do unto others as I will have them do unto me .” She lists a number of artists, including Chris Brown and K. Michelle, as being major influences on her work. Along with her inspirations, heavy hitters such as Ella Mai, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Dababy, and others are among the artists she has set her eyes on working with in the near future and having the chance to open up their shows. Gohso’s chosen genre revolves around Rap, R&B and Hip-Hop. “Level Up,” “Cna,” and “Greenlight” are among the female artists’ favorite tracks to perform.

When asked about her creative process, Gohso firmly argued that As an artist your audience always wants to get the scoop into what makes your music stand apart, so when asked about her creative process, Gohso strongly advocated that “ I like to hear the beat, make a chorus most times and fill in the verses. Sometimes I just talk to the beat and leave no hook. Whatever flows naturally. I really don’t like to write, I like to just flow.” One thing she did mention that she wishes would change about the music industry is “the unforgiveness and the intentional wrongdoing that people do to one another.”

Gohso remarked to us that she’s been hooping since she was three years old and has a few ranks under her belt when we questioned what she would see herself doing if she had to alter career lines out of the music industry. Given her drive and ambition, she could easily see herself joining the WNBA. Gohso is always honing her art, enhancing her advantages, and improving her disadvantages. She has performed live on FOX and at #SXSW, among other engagements.

Her least favorite venues to date include strip clubs and she has hopes to arrange a college tour soon. The internet, in Gohso’s opinion, is a very useful tool in the music industry. “ It’s very impactful by making it easy to market yourself at the touch of a button anywhere and everywhere on multiple platforms.” She has an unwavering dedication to her fan base. She frequently shares her messages through her art, and she specifically chose to share this one with her followers. “Never chase money. Always Chase God’s kingdom, you will never lack anything, literally!”
