How Derek Talbird is Disrupting Negotiations Between the Creative and All Other Industries

Derek Talbird founded Birdseye Management Services because he was sick and tired of seeing creators being paid less than their worth and forward-thinking business owners overpaying for underperforming mainstream content creators — and because he had the skills to do it well. Birdseye Management Services facilitates payment negotiations and contracts offered by business owners for established creative companies. Derek also provides high-quality lead generation and CRM services upon request.
The Flight Path to Birdseye Management Services
Derek got his start in the corporate world as a salesman. He was excellent at his job but missed the freedom to express himself on a daily basis. After 14 years of success in corporate sales, he decided to launch a videography and graphic design company.
During this time, he discovered how difficult it was to gain clients that paid a fair wage. Derek said, “I realized that a lot of my peers weren’t getting paid their worth; they were just accepting the money they could because they didn’t want to have to go through the negotiation side or fight about it. And on the other side of the coin, companies felt that the price they gave these creatives was fair. So they’re like, Okay, yeah, you just have to upload a couple of things on the computer. And I said no, it’s so much more than that.”
So, Derek first started assembling teams of creatives to work on bigger projects together, which slowly morphed into his creative arts brokerage, Birdseye Management Services. Today Derek helps some of the best creatives in the world negotiate contracts, find customers and effectively market their brands.
How Birdseye Works and Some of Their Clients
Derek Talbird is “essentially working more for the creative than anyone else,” he explained. His process varies by company, but what it boils down to is giving the creative the opportunity to express their art to its highest level whilst being financially rewarded in parallel. Derek currently has close working partnerships with:
Reality Matters
Reality Matters develops engaging and immersive extended reality experiences for a wide range of purposes. Some of their projects include creating XR training experiences for sales, marketing, HR, engineering and more. They also do XR product experiences and put on a memorable show for businesses and brands at a conference or exhibition. Andy Van den Broek, their owner, is passionate about integrating mixed reality as a tool to amplify our everyday lives.
Alexander’s Grace
Alexander’s Grace is a social media platform where influencers can find work. Companies go to AG to bulk request thousands of influencers for their products and services. For example, a company can agree to pay AG an amount to have beauty-related influencers post, like/comment on a post, or even do live demonstrations/reviews about their new makeup line. The influencers get to choose the campaigns in which they participate. AG vets and approves influencers then gives them an “engagement credit score” on the platform. They already have over 40,000 influencers and are ready to make any product go viral.
Doing Good Studios
Doing Good Studios is a strategic and uniquely creative brand design and marketing company. They work with high-profile clients to create one-of-a-kind branding assets and marketing materials and formulate the perfect roadmap to branding and marketing success. They are a creative company that is passionate about the ideation of business. Trin Salaloy, the owner, says, “Sometimes owners aren’t exactly sure what they want. But through the process, we have sort of a therapy session where we draw out their dream and turn it into reality!” Doing Good brings the innocent passion of owners to the forefront of the way the world views their business.
Trin also had this to share about working with Derek: “Derek knows sales, creative and business, and this is the perfect combo for what he does. He has a deep understanding and conviction for creative design and business. He gets the importance of design strategy and stands behind doing things correctly and efficiently the first time. It’s always a pleasure to work with someone with high integrity and passion.”
