How Family Played a Role in Mark Hayes’ Success as an Entrepreneur

Mark Hayes is a Nashville-based private lender specializing in short-term bridge loans for residential and commercial real estate and businesses. He built and renovated over 100 homes and has managed over 60 rental units throughout his career. 

His success comes from his 20 years of experience in real estate investing, consisting of acquisitions, property management, urban development, and financing. Today, Mark is the founder and president of Bridge South Investments, LLC. 

Yet like many people with a dream, Mark came from humble beginnings. He built his business from the ground up and applied what he learned from previous experiences to further his career until he reached the level of financial freedom he wanted. 

Coming From an Entrepreneurial Background 

It was fortunate for Mark to be born into a family of entrepreneurs. As he says, “Entrepreneurs run through the Hayes family bloodline.” 

“One of my great uncles had a local grocery store in North Carolina. Another great uncle had a successful farm in South Carolina, the Hayes Star Ranch. My dad had his own interior design business,” he added. 

These entrepreneurial figures not only gave Mark a glimpse of the life of a business owner but also inspired him to be one himself, which he realized he wanted to be by the time he was in middle school. His first business was selling blow pops on the school bus. 

Mark’s entrepreneurial spirit manifested itself again after he graduated college. As with many American students and graduates, Mark also had to deal with consumer and student debt loans. He worked for an engineering firm for four years while also taking on several jobs to pay his living expenses and his debt as he established his real estate business from the ground up. 

Aside from tapping into a profitable albeit challenging industry, Mark also practiced proper time management, efficiency, organization, honesty, and ethics to help his business grow. 

His Achievements Over the Years 

With Mark getting involved in the real estate industry, he wasted no time developing his brand and creating new opportunities for potential clients. 

In 2014, he formed West Nashville Living, LLC, a residential development company concentrating in one zip code that developed affordable and different style homes and participated in the local community. By 2019, he founded Bridge South Investments (BSI) which lends to investors in the southeastern states of Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and the Carolinas. 

Today, Mark provides investors with the funding to build wealth and succeed as he did years before.
