How OriginClear’s CEO, Riggs Eckelberry, Plans to Help Fix America’s Broken Water System

Riggs Eckelberry, founder and CEO of water technology company OriginClear, knows that America’s water infrastructure is broken. The 150,000 plus water systems of the nation are waiting to be fixed and the people who need those services the most are left to pick up the pieces themselves. Riggs believes that OriginClear’s outsourced water programs could be the answer they are looking for.

The idea for OriginClear (OTC Pink: OCLN), now a Florida-based company with manufacturing in Texas, came to light when Eckelberry discovered that the method his company invented for removing algae was also useful for extracting waste from water. The filter-free systems were a major advance for water projects. Beginning in 2020, the OriginClear team realized that even more important than technology, was money. Eckelberry touches on inflation when discussing big water infrastructure projects, “The value of money is going away, so you can’t do a long-term public works project. If things keep doubling in price all the time, you’ll never be able to keep up. Long story short is that big central water systems will eventually not be with us”. Eckelberry explains that this is one of the leading issues with water today, as how will the population learn to live without them? He states that there is a solution, and it lies within centralization of water. He outlines that the solution to our water issue is to make it possible for industries to treat their own water. “That’s really the solution to the infrastructure problem, which is to go small,” Eckelberry states. In other words, if you take the load off the central systems, they can survive in smaller form. But there’s still roadblocks in the way of this plan that seems so simple to execute. While big central projects can get funding from government, the business users are on their own.

The solution, then, is what Eckelberry calls “Water 2.0”: providing a small modular system that is funded by service contracts. This means that no money would need to be paid upfront. “That’s clearly the solution, but it takes capital for us to build what we call Water On Demand™. We’ve started to raise some of that capital, and we hope to pull the trigger on first unit of this new generation of pay-per-gallon systems soon. We’re really in the preparation stage,” Eckelberry explains. He lays out that OriginClear knows full well how to design and build water systems; the challenge now is how to buy and operate these systems remotely. Eckelberry highlights that the company wants to ensure they have the proper expertise at the helm and the knowledge in their back pockets to deliver exceptional service before the distribution of machines gets underway.

Although it’s a large undertaking, OriginClear is building up a team of qualified professionals with knowledge, as well as passion, in the space. Eckelberry hopes within the next few years the company will reach the NASDAQ, maturing into a company with more resources through acquisition. The team of experts behind OriginClear is constantly pushing the boundaries when it comes to innovative technology and continues to push to create “Water Company 2.0.”
