How To Ride Comfortably During Your Plane Ride

Flying is a great way to travel long distances as it saves you time and money. Once you’ve decided where you’re going to travel, it’s time to book the plane tickets and pack your bags. A lot of people consider riding a plane uncomfortable, but we’re here to tell you it doesn’t have to be! There are lots of different ways you can make your journey a little more enjoyable. Read below to find some of the most helpful tips to keep you relaxed while flying.
1. Wear comfortable clothing-
Just because you choose comfortable clothing for flying doesn’t mean you have to look like you just rolled out of bed. Instead of wearing uncomfortable jeans, ties, and belts, you can opt for black leggings or sleek looking joggers. Pair this with a nice sweater and a pair of well-kept shoes and you have an outfit that will keep you relaxed the entire flight!
2. Keep your luggage overhead-
You have a carry-on bag and you’re worried about storing it in the overhead space? We understand the worry, but this is the best place to put your belongings! You are sitting directly below the space, and doing this will free up room at your feet that would otherwise be taken up by your bag.
3. Have snacks and drinks on hand-
Traveling can be a lot of work so you should keep yourself full and hydrated. Either purchase a water or fill up a reusable water bottle before boarding the plane so you have access to a drink at all times. It is also a good idea to bring a snack on board in case you get hungry! If you are flying long distance and there isn’t food aboard the plane, you will find your stomach uncomfortably grumbling until you eat once you land (unless you’re prepared). Having water and food readily acceptable will keep your body nourished and hydrated until you reach your destination.
4. Be prepared for a cold ride-
Airplanes are typically cold, and you’ll want to be prepared to ride under these conditions. Even if you are traveling to or from somewhere warm, bring a sweatshirt with you on the plane to keep yourself warm. Another great way to stay warm is to wear thick socks as feet can become cold easily. You can also bring a scarf that doubles as a blanket, or a travel blanket! If you bring a blanket, try to buckle yourself over the blanket. If the flight attendants don’t see your buckle, and you fall asleep, the flight attendants will wake you up to check that you are properly strapped in.
5. Bring chapstick and moisturizer-
If you’ve ever ridden on an airplane, you’ll know that the air is usually dry and stuffy. The dry air can cause your skin and lips to become chapped, making you sore and uncomfortable. You can bring a small travel container of lotion to apply liberally to your hands as well as a chapstick to touch up your lips if they become dry. Using these products will keep your skin hydrated and smooth.
6. Invest in a neck pillow-
Sometimes on long flights, you want to just kick back and take a snooze. Bringing a neck pillow will keep your head and neck supported so you can catch some much needed ZZZ’s. These pillows are specifically designed to reduce neck-strain so that you can wake up without a pesky twinge in your neck. You will be refreshed and ready to go after landing!
7. Bring a face mask-
If you do happen to find yourself getting drowsy, a face mask is a great thing to have on hand to shut out the light. Put on your neck pillow and cover your eyes with your face mask to enjoy a restful and cozy nap.
8. Charge your devices-
Imagine you are embarking on a long journey and your electronics are almost dead. Uncharged devices would make for a long plane ride! Make sure you juice up your devices before you get on the plane so that way if there are no charging spots available, you will still have enough battery to make it to your destination.
9. Bring headphones-
Noise-canceling headphones can do wonders on a long flight. You can kick back and relax, listening to your favorite music or a podcast. This will make the trip go by faster as you aren’t simply watching the back of the seat in front of you. Headphones are also a great way to avoid awkward small talk with your seatmate!
10. Take a few laps-
I think it’s safe to say that everyone has gotten restless after sitting for a long period of time. Occasionally getting up to walk up and down the aisles is important to keep your blood flowing and allows you to stretch your legs. The chance of developing blood clots increases the longer you sit, so walking around for even for a few minutes will reduce this chance.
Once you land, you will need to have transportation from the airport to your destination. If you are traveling with more than a few other people, you can schedule a private group airport shuttle transportation service. A chauffeur will pick you up at the airport and safely deliver you to your destination.
Flying doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. No matter how long he flight, it is best to come prepared. Follow some of these tips to enjoy a comfortable ride every time you fly.
