How Vicky Midwood, Health, Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach Changed People’s Lives Through Her Holistic Healing Approach

Vicky Midwood aka -‘THE Alcohol addiction & Disordered Eating Eliminator’ – is the unshockable expert to help everyone finally get free from a lifetime of ‘serial and yo-yo dieting’ compulsive eating and drinking, food anxiety, body image hang-ups and alcohol dependence, and all the health issues that may go along with those!
Vicky narrated, “Imagine being able to grab a packet of cereal, ice cream, Mr.Kippling cake, or bar of chocolate of your choice from a shelf full at any time of the day or night; that was my reality up to the age of 10. Our dining room door opened into a shop that we treated as our pantry, which meant package food was available on tap, so it’s NO surprise I was hooked on sugar, salt, fat, and flour from an early age. Dad had to take over his father’s greengrocers at 21 and abandon his dream of being a Maths teacher. Instead, he became a savvy businessman growing a thriving frozen food company, and he was one of the first to import Microwave ovens into the UK.
No surprise either that I loved food and eating- FULL STOP! People praised me for having a good appetite yet also teased me about ‘Chubby cheeks,’ ‘puppy fat,’ and ‘chunky thighs.’ I brushed it off, but it hurt like hell inside! In my teens, I HATED my body with a passion; I didn’t want always to be referred to as the ‘well-built’ one. I tried diets, failed miserably; they just made me focus on food MORE, and I soon discovered the ‘secret world’ of throwing up, over-exercising, starvation, and laxative abuse, otherwise known as ‘Bulimia.’ It took over my Be-ing for well over a decade. I left home at 18 (to escape and because my disordered eating was a big issue), married at 21, and became an exercise instructor and PT as an excellent excuse to stay stuck in my disordered eating and body obsession. I may have come across as happy and confident on the outside, but on the inside, I was anything but!
I began eating less and drinking more – which led to me overdosing on medication and alcohol more than once and falling into relationships that enabled me to STAY in my addictive, obsessive, compulsive habits. Fast forward two divorces, rape, bankruptcy, a baby (that I was told wouldn’t happen), and thankfully rehab, I turned my life around. I studied addiction psychology, got my teaching degree, and set up my Fitness Business.
The discovery of an inextricable connection between body and brain via the gut was something not many understood 15 years ago, so getting curious and studying hard to find answers became a mission. I was MY OWN EVIDENCE. I knew it was all connected, but I wasn’t sure how, so I kept learning while trying to bring up my daughter single-handedly with no family support and grow my new business while working to earn a living!
I studied Functional Medicine, Epigenetics, Quantum Physics, Vagal tone, Nutrition Therapy, along with CBT, NLP, Reiki, Breathwork, Exercise, and essential oils. All these things allowed me to discover the ART of successful change and create the L.E.A.R.N. method to offer the best solutions for people struggling with eating, alcohol, and anxiety, as well as the health issues related to those who the conventional medicine model has let down. As an Integrative Health Coach, I don’t have to stick with ONE model and can pull from all modalities to provide the best solutions for each person as an individual. Health doesn’t have to be confusing, conflicting, or complicated SIMPLICITY and SUSTAINABILITY are my overriding principles in all my work. I treat the person as a whole, rather than separating the head from the body, which is a major issue in anyone with a body image issue or an eating disorder or who turns to alcohol to manage feelings. Whether it’s healing trauma, improving energy, or making lifestyle changes, my mission is to make a healthy body and mind straightforward and achievable without medication, pain, embarrassment, guilt, or shame. Being at peace with who you are in Be-ing in a body you love is something that IS POSSIBLE though hard to do on your own; it’s so much easier if you can be guided by someone who’s been there and come out the other side, happier, healthier and free from food and alcohol issues.”
