How Vinod Somareddy Created a Name For Himself In a Competitive Marketplace!

Dr. Vinod Somareddy, PT started his practice, Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy, in 2003 and built it in a densely, competitive marketplace. They were the smallest practice at the time in their geographical location. Now they’re one of the biggest practices on Long Island and have had the opportunity to be trusted as a Board Trustee at the American Physical Therapy Association with their political action committee for eight years. Vinod has been asked for lectures and speaking engagements throughout the country as one of the top providers of home physical therapy in the tri state area.
In this article we learn a bit about how they got started & were able to grow and succeed.
How did you get started & find success in such a competitive marketplace?
I originally started out doing a very specific physical therapy technique at Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy and also saw well known notable patients getting results and they referred me to others over the years creating us having the ability to provide services to patients without any stops for their situation and that arose to the home therapy part of our business and we were able to grow from there with a team that was able to service a broad amount of patients that needed our care both for physical therapy as well as occupational therapy. Just being able to be very thoughtful to our patients needs and desires.
I simply started off with nothing, just an idea and a concept. As a new physical therapist I didn’t know anything about management, insurance contracts, hiring, marketing. which has been challenging as we’re not taught that in school. So those are probably the biggest barriers that would also include financial management. What I and my staff have built has become what’s well known and thought of now as Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy.
How were you able to scale that to get to where you are now?
To get to where we are at this time I had to learn all that on my own through a lot of study and as well as experience and practice. Now at our size it has been difficult as there’s no road map on doing it from an educational viewpoint.
Working in a competitive marketplace can be tough, what would you say makes you stand out in your industry
What makes me different in this industry is that we try to be very, very quick with our patients in regards to responding to them or originating to them the status of their care, if they can receive care with us. We’ve taken the approach of expanding our business, Reddy Care Physical and Occupational Therapy through NY which is not an easy terrain to mitigate. We just go out and see patients everywhere we can to give them an opportunity for being treated safely for both physical therapy and occupational therapy being the best options for them whether it be in the clinic or in their home.
