I.C.E. QR Develops a Smarter Way to Share Your Emergency Info via NFC

I.C.E. QR (In Case of Emergency, pronounced “ice”) incorporates the NFC and QR technology in the form of lightweight, portable tags that you can attach to anything.
Emergencies are unpredictable and can happen at any time, leaving us vulnerable. It can be a daunting task to provide crucial information to first responders, trying to track down where you lost an item, or where your pet ran off to.
But what if there was a smarter way to share our contact information? A way that is not only secure but also lets you know where your lost items are in real-time? That’s where I.C.E. QR comes in. I.C.E. QR utilizes Near Field Communication (NFC) to provide users with information you program by simply tapping your phone.
How I.C.E. QR Works
When someone scans the code they see the contact information you pre-programmed
it shares the geolocation of where the scan happened. Users are brought to a website and given a form.
When someone scans the NFC or QR code, they are shown the information that was entered in the form. Then, a text message is sent out to 2 phone numbers alerting the tag was scanned and capable of providing a google maps link to where the scan occurred.
Applications
While the most common uses may be luggage, dog tags, gym bags, and wallet inserts, some parents have been finding creative ways to keep track of their young kids on vacations. Lost children at Disney world can have employees scan the QR code on their wristband to alert the parents of their exact location.
With the nature and portability of the code, the applications are endless.

ICE QR has been in operation for a year but it’s now launching its next generation of products. All of their products are made from better, longer lasting material but maintain the same QR Code functionality. The new codes also include NFC chips so they can be better utilized with mobile phones.
