Women Who Disrupt

“I Never Wore The Tuxedo” – Jacqueline Ball’s Journey to Founder of Sozoe Creative

Jacqueline Ball is the founder of Sozoe Creative, a boutique marketing agency that offers full marketing services, website design, strategy formation and ad campaign management. Based in Jacksonville Florida, the company serves clients from around the world and places a special focus on Pinterest marketing.

Jacqueline’s Beginnings: Twenty-Four Hours In New York

Jacqueline’s professional career started when she arrived in New York in 2009. After arriving in New York, she immediately connected with a catering company. She took the interview and landed the job, but not before insisting to meet with the corporate side of the company. “I knew I had what I took to be successful on the other side of the business, I just needed to get my foot in the door.” After securing both a job and the phone number to one of the corporate executives in the company, she rushed to spend her last $100 on a new tux for the catering job. Her day was just getting started. After purchasing the suit, she received a call from the executive that she if she could make it, there was an open interview for an executive assistant position. She made the interview, and again, secured the job. “I ended up never working the catering job or wearing the tuxedo.”

After four years working her way up from office assistant to HR Director, Ball left the company for a short stint as a Marketing Communications Manager and some freelance work in Jacksonville, FL. That’s when she walked into her next big opportunity.

Starting The Digital Design Co. “We Work Well Together.”

After working with several other freelancers on a project, Ball and her colleagues realized they had great synergy and wanted to continue working with each other. “We started on a project with a client and loved working with each other, so we decided to start our own company.” The same original team is still together 8 years later. We have a niche in Pinterest marketing.” Sozoe Creative also specializes in social media marketing across multiple platforms, creating success in the world of digital marketing.

Ball and her team have discovered the value in utilizing Pinterest in order to gain traction via digital advertising. Enter a simple search on Pinterest, and hundreds of beautifully pleasing images meet your eyes. The appealing nature of its search results add an edge when it comes to placing ads. It’s unique because it combines multiple aspects of social media. Ball states, “Google ads is search intent marketing: people search for something. Facebook ads are interruptive marketing. Pinterest is both combined. It is unique and lots of retailers are there because it is a visual search engine, essentially a visual Google.”

There are several more advantages to Pinterest. For example, for retailers, there is much less competition for search engine optimization and attracting consumers happens much more organically. Ads are automatically customized towards the viewers based on the Pinterest algorithm.

The Big Picture: We Have A Genuine Interest In Helping

When Sozoe Creative are connecting with potential clients, they begin with a discovery call in order to find out if the company is a correct fit. They want to serve their clients to see them reach their full potential, and this process helps ensure that this is a possibility. After making sure it’s a fit, they launch their onboarding kickoff call where clients can meet the entire team, ensuring that everyone will be on the same page for the campaign. Lastly, for the campaign, Ball shares “Our job is to optimize campaigns, continue to design creatives, prepare for holiday periods or key dates.” This thorough process can leave clients feeling confident in their partnership with Sozoe Creative.

When Jacqueline is not working, she’s usually enjoying her time as a wife and mother, spending time with her children. She embraces her ability to function as a full-time family woman while running her business. When asked her three keys to success, her answer was focusing on three things: gratitude, a genuine interest in helping people and being willing to do the work at the very bottom when starting out. She shares, “leading your day with gratitude will set you up to serve others.” Ball prefers to be fulfilled by her work, and being a supportive part of a team willing to do the difficult tasks will lead to greater satisfaction within a team and in life in general.
