Instagram is Outdated – TikTok is where the Real Run Happens

Although I’ve built my Instagram following to 12,500+, I’m strongly considering moving my platform to TikTok.

When I posted the same video on Instagram, and only received 10,000 views. On TikTok, it received 35,000+ views.

Why?

I’ve been using TikTok for a while now, and I can say that it is a lot of fun. You can see many videos, new music, and many other things you cannot find on Instagram.

The creators themselves have previously admitted to having some 250 million MAU (Monthly Active Users), ten times more than Instagram has.

A few things make TikTok so much better than other social media platforms. One of the reasons is that it is more engaging. For example, you can watch a six-second video on TikTok and then swipe up to see a related video. In contrast, on Instagram, you have to leave the app and go to a different website to watch a related video.

Another reason is that there are more creative people on TikTok. Because the app is newer, more people use it to express themselves creatively.

There are also more diverse people on TikTok because the app is not limited to one country or region. You can find videos in many different languages posted by people from all over the world. In contrast, most Instagram users are concentrated in Western countries with English as their native language.

The number of views you get on TikTok might also be higher because the app is more prevalent among younger people. According to a study by eMarketer, around 78% of TikTok users are aged between 16 and 24, whereas the median age for Instagram users is 29.

TikTok also has a lot of added features that make it more fun to use than Instagram. For example, you can add filters, music, and sound effects to your videos. You can also create short videos with friends using the app’s “duet” feature.

Now Instagram launched a similar feature that allows friends to remix this reel. However, Instagram seems to be losing ground.

It will be interesting to see how the two apps compare in the future, but for now, it is clear that TikTok is the better platform for video. I feel there’s no comparison that you can get thousands of more views for the same video with fewer followers.

Instagram will have to start treating its influencers and creators better by providing more views, shares, followers, etc., if they want to keep up with the likes of TikTok.
