Interview With Artist Morewop

Morewop is a rapper from the southside streets of Chicago. The 24 year old only recently started releasing music for the public to hear, but he’s quickly gaining traction with over a million views already on YouTube and TikTok. He has two projects out currently but his fans are highly anticipating his newest release Road Runner, coming soon. Check out our interview with the artist below.

Hey Morewop, how are you doing today?

I’m doing great, thanks for this opportunity.”

Tell us about your background getting to where you are today?

Well, I grew up as a menace. I spent a lot of time risking my life, gambling, robbing, and all that street life stuff. I even got shot and lost two brothers to gun violence.

Where are you from?

I am from the Southside of Chicago. I grew up on 103 and May and 93 Cottage Grove.

When did you start music?

I started music when I was 19 years old, but never took it seriously. I would always just freestyle and get in the booth for fun. I made songs but never released them.

How did you get into music?

I got into music first by playing the drums in church when I was young.

What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life?

I’ve overcome a lot of challenging things, getting shot, losing my homies to gun violence, beating cases that could’ve changed my life forever, and just separating myself from the ones who do not really love me.

Are you currently signed or independent?

I am independent.

Who inspires you the most musically?

My favorite artist of all time 2Pac definitely inspires me the most.

What do you want people to take away after listening to your music?

That there isn’t any cap in my music. I only rap about stuff I have been through or seen or was around.

Tell us about any new music you have coming out? When is coming out? What is it
about?

I have a lot of music coming out including my project Road Runner.

What is your greatest achievement as a musician?

I would say my greatest achievement as a musician thus far would be hitting over a million views on YouTube & TikTok

Do you produce your own music? If not who do you work with?

I do not produce my music. I work with the great Gasupkeef.

Who is one artist you wish you could work with?

To be honest nobody.
