Itsmelinaworld is an artist that’s defining the lofi space

Published

I got the chance to sit down and talk with the breakthrough artist itsmelinaworld. She has been making music for over 5 years and only recently started seeing success. Melina says that it took her years to find a way to emulate her emotions through sound. Over the years, instead of focusing on success, she focused on making music that would touch the soul. In today’s era of music, new artists are popping up left and right in the hip hop and lofi genre.

What makes Melina different is her approach to music. We can hear it in her songs from her first EP in 2019 called Mochi Love, to breaking away from that sound with her single Noble Soul, then honing in on her heart and finding her signature sound.

Her new EP “Passage through Takayama” and the track “Sakura” specifically demonstrate the dramatic growth she has made as an artist. The sound changes and courage to break away from her old sonic sound is rather a courageous and dangerous thing as changing the sound your fans fell in love with can always backfire. But, for Melina, it’s really about being true to herself.

“It took me years to find my signature sound, but I’m finally happy with the direction my music is going in. This is just the beginning”, said Melina.

Melina wants to explore more genres but definitely is focused on making her mark in the lofi and hip hop genre. She is hoping to go on tour next Spring so that more people around the world in venues can hear her music.

“I’m not in it for the money, I’m pretty self-sufficient already because of my work. Music is just the door to my heart that allows me to experience my full artistic expression”, she told me.

As most artists in the world make music to also earn a living, but it’s fascinating coming across an artist who does not need the money but rather focuses from top to bottom, everything about making compelling music.

For this reason I think she is a rising star and will be dominating our headphones and speakers for years to come. For someone who’s only motivated by real, expression, the music she makes is definitely not something you would hear on the radio, but rather you stumble upon and are not sure if you should tell the world or keep it as a treasured secret for yourself.

We can expect to hear many more unique creations from Melina in the near future.⁸
