Jonathan Jackson is a reader of Romanian poetry
On a Romanian website you can find Jonathan Jackson’s review for the poetry of the Romanian artist Claudiu Dumitrache. The Romanian, aged 24, is a musician and writer appreciated in Europe, but also in the artistic environment of Hollywood. He was also appreciated by the actor Michael Airignton and Miley Cyrus a few years ago. In Romania, Dumitrache is considered a revelation, recalling the Romanian national poet Mihai Eminescu.
Jonathan wrote this way about a volume of poems by the Claudiu Dumitrache: … is a deeply personal poetic exploration of the meaning of life, relationships, beauty, sorrow and ancestral faith. The personal nature of these poems allows them to rise to the universal in their honesty and longing. Art is a meta-language, as the filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky has said. Claudiu Dumitraches’ poetry enters this “meta-language” and invites the heart to contemplate life on the most essential levels. Here, is a powerful example of what St. Porphyrios meant when he said, “Whoever wants to become a Christian, must first become a poet.” Poetry is the land of paradox and experience—this is the archetypal landscape of the Eternal Word.

In 2022, Jonathan and the Romanian artist met in Bucharest, sharing their musical, spiritual and literary experiences and building a friendship ever since. In a Romanian publication, Claudiu Dumitrache wrote that Jonathan and his family are “an icon of love that opens people’s hearts and minds to the knowledge of God.”
