KEN BAREFIELD – ONE OF THE BEST STUNT ARTISTS THE INDUSTRY HAS EVER PRODUCED.

Ken Barefield is not a new name in the industry as he has done enormous work in the action zone as a stunt coordinator and 2nd Unit Director. He is associated with the popular Netflix series Cobra Kai, as he was its 2nd unit director and stunt coordinator. This 6.1 inch tall stunt expert from Atlanta has done wonders in this field and is now the proud owner of his company Kenergy Inc., which is into creating action sequences for numerous film and television shows.

Early Life

Ken was always inclined towards sports, especially football. “I remember excelling in sports during my school and college days. In one of the football games in school, I made the first tackle and blocked the first punt at the university of South Alabama in 2009,” informs the stunt expert. What followed was an MTV reality TV show in his high school about his football team called ‘TWO A DAYS’. He played football and ran 100, 200 and the 4×1 sprinter at a D1 college which built his foundation that was needed for the kind of career he was going to choose going ahead in life. Being a stuntman requires one to be agile and athletic at the same time, also being mentally and physically tough is what the game taught him, and that helped him come a long way.

The road ahead

The initial days were tough on him, as he was struggling to find a foot in the industry. He had no money and had to sleep in his car on many occasions as he couldn’t afford a hotel room. Yet, his spirits wasn’t dampened, and his passion kept him running towards his goal of becoming an ace stunt coordinator, which would bring him global recognition. Being optimistic kept him going, no matter what the circumstances were. He knew he had to find his way out, despite the odds and challenges that came along the journey. Being determined and focussed help him tide through the rough weather and he finally found success after much hard work and tough times. He knew he had to find a foot and start from scratch and rebuild his life.

Future plans

Ken wants to excel in his field of work by doing exceptionally good work in the action niche. He says that he wants to become a better 2nd unit director and present some outstanding work in the near future.

One piece of advice he wants to give to people in order to succeed is to never give up, no matter what the situation is, and always keep learning newer things and expand your knowledge, no matter how good you are in your work, there’s always a lot to learn, and lastly surround yourself with people who are wiser and more successful than you are which can help you grow immensely in your personal as well as professional sphere.
