Women Who Disrupt
Let Mary Jo Pinedo Plan Your Next Travel Experience

Founder of WeWentWhere Relaunches Travel Experiences as Covid Restrictions Lift
Mary Jo Pinedo is a travel enthusiast and the founder of a company that offers curated travel experiences for its members. After taking a slight hiatus due to the regulations put in place during the Covid pandemic, Mary Jo is ready to take her company and her travelers back around the world. With locations such as Morocco, India, and Vietnam, her travel experiences leave travelers refreshed, recharged, and ready to seek their next adventure.
Before starting her luxury travel company, Mary Jo developed a short- term exclusive vacation business with her family properties. !Our five-
and six-bedroom real estate properties hosted exclusive guests through RE brokers, VRBO, and high-end Vacation sites.” In 2015, she was invited on a luxury trip to Morocco. The experience was amazing and she realized that this was the next step in her journey. She started hosting trips around the world. With her background in vacation rentals
and hosting, it wasn”t a difficult transition. After successfully taking
travelers to India, Vietnam, Italy, and locations around the world – her
entrepreneurial spirit ignited. !I worked closely with a Brazilian travel
company and within a short time started my own. We continue to collaborate on extraordinary experiences.”
In 2018, she launched her travel company with a signature trip to Villa de Leyva, Colombia, a charming colonial town with 400-year-old Spanish colonial architecture, cobblestone streets and all-white buildings with emerald-green balconies. While she certainly wants her customers to enjoy a relaxing trip and picturesque locations, she believes that creating a memorable experience goes much deeper than just a beach or mountainside resort.
Cultural Immersion
Although many people have enjoyed trips to the Bahamas, Morocco, Italy and global destinations, many of them have not fully experienced the full culture of the countries that they visit. Many of us tend to visit the
tourist traps, view the sights, and head back home without experiencing the unique culture that different countries have to offer. Mary Jo believes that part of the magic of travel is learning and experiencing something
different than how you live every day. ”It”s not just relaxing at the resort. You are immersed in the culture, experiencing full service, and shopping artisanal crafts. People that travel with us walk away with a new understanding of the world.” Mary Jo ensures this experience by maintaining close connections to local guides and artisans in the countries the company visits.
Learning Experience
No matter how good your guide is or how many martinis you have, there is no denying that traveling with a group can be awkward and not everyone is good at developing connections. (just think about squeezing in next to a stranger on a crowded airplane or bus and starting a conversation.) That is where Ms. Pinedo has created another unique aspect of her travel experiences. In addition to total immersion in culture, she has travel programs that bring expert coaches, personal trainers, wellness leaders, and mastermind developers to help her travelers
develop new life skills. !When we traveled to Morocco after the pandemic, we traveled with our TOTs program, tennis on tour expert, Frederico Gonçalves. It was amazing to watch the group bond during the tennis lessons in the Sahara Desert camp and then share their stories over the exquisite cuisine of Le Marocain while staying at La Mamounia.” Much like a company bonding event or an icebreaker at a party, these events really bring the group together in a lasting way. Ms. Pinedo believes that learning a new skill while on vacation is a surefire way to build lasting memories and relationships.
Building a Community
Traveling with strangers may be strange, but traveling with family is familiar and fun. That is why Ms. Pinedo puts an extreme amount of time and effort into building communities. She believes that traveling in a group is the best way to experience the world because it offers a sense of security and connection while traveling to a world that is unfamiliar. She also believes that it is a great way to build lasting and meaningful relationships. Although her travelers come from many different countries and backgrounds, they all bond over their love of travel. Through this
shared love of adventure and experiences, Ms. Pinedo is able to connect with people from all over the world and build an exclusive clientele. !The
women we travel with are always looking for the next luxury adventure. We look forward to seeing more of the world together.”
Since entering the luxury travel industry in 2015, Ms. Pinedo has gone on countless trips around the world. With destinations including Morocco, Spain, India, Portugal, and countless others, she has helped to share the experiences and beauty of the world with hundreds of travelers. While she is just ramping up operations since halting for the pandemic, she is looking to build her company into a world icon for luxury travel. She is also looking to expand the experience that she offers her clients. “I see this company as THE place where industry experts bring their expertise to collaborate with us. Artisans, speakers, trainers, and entrepreneurs will come to us to build unforgettable learning experiences for their clients in destinations around the globe.”
Mary Jo Pinedo is the founder of WeWentWhere Travel. When she is not busy traveling with her travel groups, and helping clients with vacation real estate, she still stays busy traveling with her family in Canada, Colorado, and Colombia. She is an avid tennis player and yoga enthusiast and also enjoys studying and investing in NFTs and Cryptocurrency.
