Maria Caruso: Making a Name for Herself in From Stage to Screen

Maria Caruso, the celebrated Pittsburgh-based dancer and founder of Bodiography Contemporary Ballet, has made an incredible leap into the acting world. In just 12 months, Maria Caruso has landed roles in 35 projects, ranging from feature films and short films to TV shows, vertical dramas, web series, and major YouTube channels. Her rapid success highlights her versatility and strong presence in the entertainment industry.

Balancing Multiple Roles

Following the widespread acclaim of her solo dance work, “Metamorphosis,” Caruso moved to Los Angeles. She skillfully balances her roles as an actor, filmmaker, and director of her dance company while maintaining strong ties to Pittsburgh. Despite her growing passion for film and television, She is excited to return to the stage with her new solo show, “Incarnation,” set to debut in London’s West End in the fall of 2024.

Starting from the Bottom

Caruso’s acting journey began with a creative sabbatical to learn the industry’s basics. She took on background roles to understand set dynamics and steadily worked her way up. Her dedication paid off, and she now has representation from a manager and three agents. Before the 2023 strike, She shot her first short film and founded two film companies, RAE Films, and En Pointe Entertainment, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit.
