Meet Dan Trinidad, Founder and CEO of Partners Mortgage

With the guiding principle “Everyone Matters”, Dan Trinidad founded Partners Mortgage in 1988. Dan knew that he wanted to create a company where people wanted to be and loved to work. Reminiscing on the start of his business, he says, “I played baseball at UC Irvine and wanted to play professionally. When that didn’t work out, I wanted to be in a business that was competitive, where the opportunity to make money was limitless.”

In 1995, Dan and his team developed a mortgage bank and under Dan’s leadership, Partners Mortgage grew exponentially. Today, with over 32 years of experience, Partners Mortgage has become one of the most respected mortgage companies in the industry. However, this success did not come without obstacles. Dan recalls, “Having enough capital to sustain a new business was a challenge, but not as difficult as attracting “A Players” to work with us. I knew how to generate business, but realized that there was much more to running a company. Although it was expensive, we hired a consulting firm early on to help and ended up retaining them for three years. It was in that period that we became a real thriving business.”

Dan also faced challenges in his personal life. In 2008, his wife of 23 years was diagnosed with Leukemia and passed away a short 6 weeks later. 2008 also brought the challenges of the great recession and collapse of the economy that put 80% of mortgage companies out of business. Through it all, Dan credits his lasting success to his philosophy of interrelatedness and equality. He notes, “In our culture, everyone matters and everyone shares in our mission to give our customers a “Wow!” experience from A to Z. We are one team, working together for this single purpose. Our values are deeply engraved: integrity, relationships, diligence, solutions, and well-being.”

Looking to the future of his business, Dan plans to continue growing the team at Partners Mortgage while also building his personal brand by helping leaders build teams, branches, and companies. His podcast series, Inspired Forward. is one way he plans to accomplish that goal. Dan is using his platform to educate real estate and mortgage professionals on how they can achieve success, inspired by his own experiences in life and business. He says, “I want to help leaders be better leaders by working on their inner self. Great leaders strive to improve all areas of the lives of the people that follow. That’s well-being: the integrated leader. The whole leader.”
