Meet Juntos, the Company that Produces the Most Comfortable and Responsible Shoes on the Planet

Juntos (hoon-tohs) is one of the most forward-thinking progressive footwear companies today. Their shoes are comfortable, stylish, and environmentally friendly, and they give back in a big way—giving people an outlet to purchase this everyday item, shoes, in a responsible way.

They have converted modern shoe fabrication and assembly techniques to use sustainable products that biodegrade in less time than the average shoe. In addition, animal-based products result in lower carbon impact on the environment and no harm to animals. As Juntos founder Mauricio Laniado says, “We are a purpose-driven company, and nature is our north star.”

What Makes Up a Juntos Shoe?

The bottom of a Juntos shoe starts off with an EVA foam. EVA foam, is made with ethanol which is converted into ethylene, and combined with vinyl acetate to become the world’s greenest shoe bottom construction” It is also durable and cushiony to keep the “everyday walkers” feet comfy and protected.

What is unique about this EVA foam is that rather than being made from oil products, the copolymer (EVA) is primarily produced from sugar cane—allowing Juntos Footwear to bypass Big Oil and the damage they wreak on the environment.

The shoe’s upper part is a soft and breathable blend of organic cotton and wool. The insole is made up of alpaca wool, and there are no annoying exposed labels. And if that’s not enough, the adhesive used to assemble the footwear is made from the waste of banana trees!

It almost sounds like the shoes are edible, but eating them is not recommended! Each part of the shoes is thoughtfully sourced from farms and businesses that practice environmentally friendly methods and give back as well. For example, the alpaca wool comes from a farm in the Ecuadorian Andes.

The farm owner chose alpacas for the minimal amount of stress they put on the ecology around them. The farm also uses profits to buy additional land for preservation from strip farming and other disastrous industrial projects. Each company Juntos has partnered with shares a similar story embedded with caring and sustainable business models.

How Does Juntos Give back?

Aside from partnering with businesses that also contribute to a myriad of causes, Juntos works with the Style Saves foundation. When people order shoes that don’t fit, Juntos does not restock them and sell them to the next buyer. Instead, the company takes the returned shoes and sends them to Style Saves registered students.

How to Find Juntos Footwear

Juntos currently sells direct to consumers; their products can be found on their vibrant and informative website. They are a fresh new company and recently soft-launched their shoes to the public, so shoppers will be one of the first to have a pair of the most comfortable and responsible shoes on the planet. So, look good and do good with Juntos today!
