Meet Kieran O’Brien – The 19 Year Old Entrepreneur who is Taking the Automotive Industry by Storm

Recently, I had the honor of sitting down with a 19-year-old entrepreneur, Kieran O’Brien. Kieran is an exotic car dealer consultant, digital marketer, and social media expert. We talk about his company, his journey, and how he got started.

 

  • Hey Kieran, what does your company, GearedSocial do?

 

 

Kieran: We provide Social Media services and lead generation for Automotive Businesses. We help businesses discover new revenue from advertising online. 

 

 

 

  • How did you start digital marketing?

 

 

Kieran: I started in digital marketing when my first mentor Matt Curry, asked me to run the social media for his auto repair shop. Then I was obsessed. I started teaching myself everything I could about digital marketing and to this day am completely self-taught. 

 

 

 

  • Why do you feel niche specific is better for an agency owner?

 

 

Kieran: Very simple, you can much more easily become an authority in your niche. Business owners trust people who understand their business & speak their language. I chose the automotive industry, and double down on learning everything I could about it. Now, I’m seen as an industry expert by focusing on one niche. 

 

 

 

  • What made you choose the automotive niche? 

 

 

Kieran: I love cars. Pretty simple. This goes back to the whole topic about niche’s, you tend to do better work when you’re working on something you’re passionate about. I’ve discovered that when trying to establish your niche, you should double down on what you love, and become an expert in that field. If you’re doing what you love every day, it no longer feels like work.

 

 

 

  • How did you get into the viral page space? What do you do with your viral Instagram pages?

 

 

Kieran: I thought it would be fun to own some big pages, it’s a great leverage point for my agency as all my clients get free promotions on my pages. We’ve seen great results with it, and I enjoy posting content around my passions, so it’s a win-win. 

 

 

 

  • What have you done differently to scale?

 

 

I’ve started to implement different lead generation tactics like free downloadable pdf’s for business owners to learn about social media. Also working on creating a social media training course teaching some of the things my agency no longer offers as services due to the lack of scalability.

 

 

 

  • What are your plans with your company?

Kieran: To scale it up, hopefully, sell it one day. Also starting to do training & coaching as well. I really enjoy working with new agency owners and showing them what it takes to be successful as a digital marketer.
