Here we sit down with Daniel, to know a bit more about his journey as a digital marketer.
Q. What inspired Daniel to become an entrepreneur?
Daniel: In short, the freedom I saw other business owners I’d me had in their lives.
Q. How did Daniel get started?
Daniel: Well, funnily enough, I got started by listening to Dave Ramsey while doing various chores around my family’s property while in high school. As I listened to him day after day the more I realized that what he talked about wasn’t really for me. I was young and didn’t have any debt so I moved away from him and started listening to dozens of hours of content from other entrepreneurs across the internet. And that’s more or less what sparked my entrepreneurial journey.
Q. What was your biggest startup challenge? What steps did you take to overcome it? What did you learn?
Daniel: To be completely honest, a little something I like to call ADOS. It stands for Attention Deficit OOOH SHINY! Also known as shiny object syndrome lol. For years I flitted from thing to thing and just couldn’t decide on one thing. That’s one of my biggest problems to this day. I struggle to just do or pick one thing because I want to do all the things. I want to have all the skills cause I just find everything so fascinating. The way I’ve found that helps me choose is to metaphorically throw a dart at the board. Flip a coin. Whatever tickles your fancy, you get the idea. You just need to CHOOSE and you’re most of the way there already.
Q. What is the Most Memorable Thing did Daniel has Done Since he Started his Business?
Daniel: To be honest, just starting the dang thing. I’ve talked to a lot of cool people about a lot of cool things since starting this business but still, nothing trumps actually starting it. I suffered from shiny object syndrome and analysis paralysis for over 6 years and just starting was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Q. What is one book you recommend, and why?
Daniel: Oh gosh… I hate these kinds of questions cause I love so many books for so many reasons. I’ll pick two. One is the one I’m currently reading and that’s Extreme Ownership by Jocko WIllink and Leif Babin. I just think that people can take these techniques and apply them in most areas of their life and start seeing massive benefits. The other book is Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss. It really provides a practical guide for upping your negotiating game in a really cool way.
Q. In terms of legacy, what is the mark you’d like to leave on the world?
Daniel: To inspire people to just freaking do the thing. Do you want to learn to paint? DO IT! Do you want to start a business? DO IT! You get the idea. Just freaking do it and stop overthinking. I’ve suffered from that for most of my life and it’s not fun. Action breeds confidence. Confidence breeds more action et cetera et cetera.
Q. In one sentence, what’s the best advice you’d give to someone just starting out on their entrepreneurial journey?
Daniel: My catchphrase for this year: “Think less, do more.” And this wonderful quote – “You belong in the most secret part of you. Don’t worry about cool, make your own uncool.” ~ Sol DeWitt
