MILES LONG REVEALS THE THREE THINGS EVERY ENTREPRENEUR SHOULD KNOW

Starting a business is not  easy, it’s hard but it’s supposed to be, writes entrepreneur Miles Long, otherwise everyone would be doing it.

Here are a few things the multi-business owner has found key to starting up and making it a success.

 Find your hook

Miles says this is critical because even if you have a good idea but no one wants to buy it, you won’t be successful.

During Miles’ acting career he noticed that the people who were making the most money weren’t the performers but the producers and filmographers.

So using his knowledge of being in front of the camera and understanding the best angles needed, he moved behind the camera.

This gave him a unique advantage over other camera operators as he knew how to move the actors and what to ask for and it wasn’t long before he was in constant demand.

Set the standard

Miles believes that if you want to be successful in work, or in life, you have to set the example that you want others to follow.

If you are  lazy, your employees will be lazy. If you work hard, your employees will work hard.

Business is a top down environment so the boss must always lead by an example.

He believes bosses fall into two categories – a manager who inspires and who someone aspires to be in the future, and a boss that others never want to be like.

Miles says that being a good leader does not necessarily come easy to everyone but anyone can learn if they have the inclination to.

He recommends taking online courses, watching seminars and documentaries, and reading books.

Miles insists that this is part of your professional development and should get as much attention as any other area of your business.

Take time out

It’s easy when you first start out to throw everything in and neglect your own physical and mental health, admits Miles.

No matter how much you love your business without some time away from it you will burn out.

Miles believes that the key to keeping batteries charged is to make quality time for yourself, enjoying hobbies and other things that you are passionate about.

For Miles personally, he loves to build cars and bikes, and these kinds of projects help keep the businessman mentally active, creative and thoughtful.
