Music High Court: 2021’s Hottest Label

We sat down with the founders of Music High Court earlier August for an exclusive interview with them and their plans on taking over their industry. (These questions were answered by Arpit Gawri.)

Interviewer: “How did you build prestige in your industry and business?”

Arpit Gawri:We established the brand in 2015 as a tastemaker channel to help electronic music listeners explore fresh and upcoming talent. As our audience and artist network grew, we wanted to provide a lot more value and marketing support to these artists to help establish themselves and expand their fanbase, which led to us starting our own record label and live show vertical. As of today we’ve not only released with 50+ artists from around the world, but also booked some of them under our live shows across India and Europe to help expand their audiences.

Interviewer: What makes you stand out in your industry?

Arpit Gawri:Our label’s art direction and branding has always stood out from others. Since we only release a limited number of tracks per year, we try and set a proper cinematic visual direction for each track with the artworks and visuals to try and engage the listener on a much deeper level. The same goes for our production setups and concepts at our live shows – we make sure everything stands out with a unique identity.

Interviewer: “What are the biggest challenges of your life and how did you overcome them?”

Arpit Gawri: The biggest challenge has been to make the Indian audience adapt to the cultural shift we’ve been trying to bring about in the industry. Their taste in EDM is strongly defined by the trending artists and major festivals taking place in India, making them a lot more hesitant to jump into fresher music styles which they aren’t familiar with otherwise.

We launched our live shows to bridge this gap even further and get more people to hear music they’d love but haven’t explored yet. It’s definitely brought us one step closer to bringing about a cultural shift, but it’s still a long way ahead.

Interviewer: “Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?”

Arpit Gawri:Our vision for the next 5 years is to host our own music festivals across the world, and help bring light to a new generation of artists who are paving the way for the next big sound, which might otherwise go unnoticed or overlooked.
