Supporting Coffee Roasters Reach More Potential Customers to Help Them Thrive as Told by The Barcey’s Coffee Founders

When most people think about coffee or about purchasing coffee for themselves or their office, they immediately think about large brands like Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, or The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, among others. Certain companies have pre-established contracts with brands of these types to provide coffee for their meetings or big events. The prices tend to be on the higher end of the range, and no one really thinks about the coffee roasters who provide their services to these brands. So, how will these coffee roasters thrive? How can we help their businesses succeed? This is something my company and I have been working towards.

What We Do

Back in 2008, we opened Barcey’s Cafe in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and became one of the neighborhood’s trailblazing coffee shops. Ten years later, we sold our business. However, we were confident that our love for coffee would never part from us and we knew our passion would keep us working in this industry. That is how we decided to create a  marketplace for artisan coffee roasters to provide cafés, offices, small businesses, and consumers across the nation an opportunity to offer and rotate specialty at wholesale coffee rates: Barcey’s Coffee.

One of the main reasons why we decided to venture into this was to give coffee roasters the chance to showcase their creations and reach more potential customers without third-party shops stealing their profits. While also helping small businesses and entrepreneurs save money on their coffee by buying at off retail prices and without the hassle of applying for wholesale accounts. Both ends of this deal—coffee roasters and small businesses looking to buy from them—are cautious about every penny they earn or spend, so this helps them grow their profits and buy a product at a reasonable price without sacrificing the quality of the coffee.

How We Help Coffee Roasters

As coffee connoisseurs and aficionados, we knew coffee roasters needed this marketplace to help them thrive and reach more customers. For that reason, we created a special membership for them to join our network and have access to a larger number of companies and entrepreneurs looking to purchase coffee for their business.

Our idea has always been to boost the business of roasters who supply diverse, premium quality coffee, whether they be world-renowned coffee veterans or sensational rising coffee roasters. The only qualification we require of them is to guarantee they source their coffee through ethical, sustainable, and fair trade coffee business practices.

Supporting coffee roasters reach more potential customers to help them thrive is what we do best. However, we need our roasters to hold their end of the deal and commit to fulfill frequent coffee orders, roasting and shipping regularly. When doing so, they should be consistent with bringing out all of the flavors and nuances embedded within a coffee bean. As long as we both do our part, these roasters will definitely thrive with us!

Throughout this process, we consider the coffee roasters who work with us our partners. We select those partners through four simple steps:

  1. Coffee roasters will fill out an application.
  2. We will review the application and carry out brand research.
  3. After approval, roasters will create their own store and begin selling through our website.
  4. Your membership will be good for free—we only charge a 3% marketplace commission and a 3% credit card processing fee.

Coffee Roasters That Thrive

Coffee is such a huge industry these days, but sadly most coffee roasters do not receive the payment they deserve for the work they do. Many brands purchase from them for very low prices, then proceed to sell the product at a much higher price. To avoid this and to support coffee roasters reach more potential customers to help them thrive, we at Bracey’s Coffee connect them with potential clients that will pay the appropriate amount. Our main goal is to keep these roasters in business and give them the place they deserve in the coffee world.
