To Live And Sell Authentically With Austin Bergman, Fort Lauderdale’s Leading Luxury Agent

In the last three years, Austin Bergman has quickly established himself as one of South Florida’s leading luxury real estate agents. This should come as no surprise, considering that at just 38, he’s been practicing real estate for more than half his life. Although the journey has been tumultuous at times, Bergman has withstood the storm and has found the courage to live as his most authentic self.

Barely 19, Bergman was in culinary school when he met his now ex-wife. Together the pair bought their first home in Richmond, Virginia, and Bergman was both dismayed and surprised to see how little communication and effort his real estate agent put into the transaction. He was certain he could do better, and just 30 days after closing on his first home he became a licensed real estate agent. By 23, Bergman and his partner were running a flourishing real estate company and doing upwards of $150M in production each year. The pair share two children and while Bergman was deeply devoted to both his family and their business, he was harboring a secret that would threaten to tear their family apart. In 2017, it all came to a head, when Bergman came out as gay, and his wife simultaneously divorced him and forced him out of their business.

Although Bergman recalls this as a deeply painful time, it served as the catalyst for him to begin living as his true self.

“Now I don’t have to wake up every day and be an actor in a body and life that doesn’t feel like me,” he explains.

Nearly paralyzed with sorrow, still reeling from the loss of his family, Bergman moved to South Florida to begin to put his life back together.

Fortunately, he had 15 years of experience in real estate. On average, Bergman had sold around 500 homes a year, he had seen and experienced nearly everything the industry had to offer, but still, he knew he was capable of more. After he settled in Fort Lauderdale, his first item of business was securing a meeting with Chad Caroll, founder of the Carroll Group and star of Bravo’s hit TV show, Million Dollar Listing. Bergman’s charisma and wealth of experience landed him a spot on South Florida’s #1 team and in the last 4 years, he has helped hundreds of ultra-wealthy individuals find their dream second home.

Deeply driven to succeed, Bergman will stop at nothing to ensure his clients are satisfied. He has spent the last two decades researching the market trends of the high-end real estate industry and developing innovative strategies and world-class marketing techniques to promote and sell homes on a local, national, and international level.

According to Bergman, “A client is really hiring a marketing company when they hire an agent, we know how to market our listings locally and globally and get exposure no other agent can give their clients.”

In addition to being an expert marketer, Bergman is also an exceptional communicator. He understands the importance of relationships and building lasting connections.

“Real estate is not a one-and-done transaction,” he explains, “When I work with a new client we are building a long-term relationship.”

Both sellers and buyers are immediately struck by Bergman’s unmatched drive and dedication. According to Bergman, this comes from a place of being able to live and work authentically.

“People can spot the difference. Real estate is the only thing I’ve ever done, and when you love what you do, you tend to do it well.”
