Two Major Issues Are Destroying PUBG

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a battle royale game that took the gaming world by storm. As the record-holder for the highest number of concurrent players on Steam, PUBG has maintained its position in the Top 5 most-played games since its release in 2017. It’s a phenomenon that countless players love. But today, I must address some harsh truths because two major issues are currently destroying this game. If you feel the same way, feel free to join the discussion.

The Rise and Fall of a Giant

Firstly, it’s crucial to acknowledge that PUBG has been a resounding success. It almost single-handedly sparked the battle royale craze and contended with Fortnite during its early days. With its realistic style, PUBG stands out in its genre, offering a unique experience unmatched by other similar games. However, if you open the Steam store today, you’ll find that player reviews are mixed. With only a 58% positive rating, it’s hard to believe that this game still boasts hundreds of thousands of active players.

The Cheating Epidemic

The most fundamental issue contributing to this mixed reception is the rampant cheating in PUBG. Despite the developers publishing weekly lists of banned accounts, the game being free-to-play makes it incredibly easy for cheaters to create new accounts. This ease of access means that cheaters aren’t deterred by bans; they can just register a new account and resume their antics.

You’ve likely seen strange memes about cheating in PUBG, and many of them are unfortunately true. Cheaters blatantly use hacks right in front of you, leaving you helpless and frustrated. Without a more effective strategy to combat this cheating epidemic, PUBG is doomed to be destroyed by these unfair practices.

Network Problems

Another major issue plaguing PUBG is its network quality. If you’re a PUBG player, you might find it baffling that a game with such a long operational history has such poor network performance. A simple Google search reveals that many players are desperately seeking solutions to fix PUBG high ping issues. As an online competitive game, network quality is paramount. Any latency, especially during crucial moments, can lead to mistakes and affect the outcome of matches. Unfortunately, the developers have not provided a clear plan to improve PUBG servers performance and network stability.

However, many players have started using game VPNs to optimize their connections, significantly reducing PUBG ping. Tools like GearUP Booster have become popular for their effectiveness in lowering latency by 70%-80% in most cases, providing a much-needed relief. Still, the inherent instability of PUBG servers poses a significant risk to the overall gaming experience.

Additional Challenges

Content Stagnation

Beyond cheating and network issues, PUBG has also faced criticism for its slow content updates. Unlike Fortnite, which frequently introduces new modes, maps, and collaborations, PUBG tends to stick with the same content for extended periods. This lack of fresh content can make the game feel stale and unengaging, particularly for long-term players.

System Performance

Performance issues have also been a long-standing concern. PUBG is known for its demanding system requirements, and even high-end PCs can struggle to run the game smoothly. Frequent frame drops, crashes, and other technical issues further frustrate players, detracting from the overall experience.

Competition from Rivals

Lastly, the emergence of strong competitors like Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone has siphoned off many PUBG players. These games offer polished, engaging experiences with fewer of the issues plaguing PUBG, making them attractive alternatives.

Conclusion

While PUBG remains a monumental game in the world of battle royales, it is currently being undermined by two major issues: rampant cheating and poor network performance. Despite its success and the loyal player base, these problems are driving many players away. Until the developers take decisive action to address these concerns, PUBG risks losing its hard-earned place in the gaming world.
