Women Who Disrupt

Ty Woods Overcomes Hurdles as an African-American Woman to Inspire Small Businesses and Redefining Success

Ty Woods

Atlanta, GA – May 26, 2023 – Ty Woods, a visionary serial entrepreneur, business coach, investor, and spiritual leader, has emerged as a beacon of hope and empowerment for individuals facing adversity. Rising above the challenges as an African-American woman, Ty has not only achieved remarkable success in the business world but has also dedicated herself to bridging the gap between education and business, particularly for underrepresented communities.

Ty Woods, alongside her husband, founded Artportunity Knocks Inc., a nonprofit organization providing STEM and Arts Education to students nationwide. Rooted in her own experiences and witnessing the impact of dyslexia and limited educational resources on her relatives, Ty recognized the vital role of education in personal success. With an unwavering commitment to empowering others, all of her business platforms incorporate educational components, offering classes, workshops, and one-on-one mentoring opportunities.

Armed with an MBA from Coles College of Business and a Bachelor’s in Business Management from Life University, Ty Woods combines her academic prowess with real-world experience. Her businesses have generated millions of dollars in revenue, but her true measure of success lies in the positive change she brings to her church and local causes. Through her expanding government contracting sectors, real estate rental portfolio, and on-demand education platforms, Ty has nurtured brands that have gained national and international recognition.

“I wanted to be someone who not only acknowledges problems but also provides solutions,” says Ty Woods, reflecting on her journey. With a passion for addressing the disparities faced by BIPOC individuals in business, investing, and education, Ty has emerged as a champion for equal opportunities.

Overcoming hurdles unique to her identity, Ty Woods faced challenges head-on and emerged triumphant. The first obstacle she encountered was the limited access to funding. Witnessing similar organizations receive substantial financial support while her own received less, Ty realized the disparities and resolved to level the playing field. She became an expert in landing corporate partnerships and fundraising for nonprofits, securing collaborations with renowned companies such as Target, American Family Insurance, and PayPal.

As an African-American woman, Ty also faced mental health challenges and the burden of negative self-perception. Over time, she embraced herself, recognizing her worth as a believer in Christ, a friend, and a mother. Through this journey of self-love and self-appreciation, Ty began attracting like-minded individuals who shared her vision of empowerment.

“I believe in the power of self-love and self-appreciation,” affirms Ty Woods. “When we recognize our own value, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve greatness.”

As a seasoned entrepreneur, Ty Woods shares three valuable tips for budding entrepreneurs:. First is to believe in yourself and in your business: “Even if no one believes in you, there will be someone out there who will believe in you. Believe in your business. Believe in the mission of your business.” Second is to have a mission. “Define a clear mission for your business that aligns with your values and goals. Having a purpose beyond profit will drive your passion and motivate your team.” And, third, find your team. For Ty Woods, she reminds that no one can do this by themselves. “Surround yourself with people who believe in your business’s mission. Your team will be the catalyst for your growth, providing diverse perspectives, expertise, and support,” sha shares.
