World-renowned public speaker and coach, Eric Feng, gives more insight into his life and success over the years
Eric Feng used to be this very shy and somewhat quiet young man growing up. However, thanks to the internet, he seemingly found his voice and overcame his shyness to become a global speaker. The popular speaker and mentor to thousands of people across the globe recently went a bit deeper into his life in an interview.
How was life growing up?
I was shy, scrawny, and overly self-conscious as a child. My best friend for 32 years called Mr. Invisible when we go to school as I often go unnoticed especially at social gatherings. However, my love for teaching led me to take up a career as a corporate trainer, which did not really have the best of starts amid doubts and hesitations from my clients, particularly due to my age.
What led to the turnaround?
The negative comments he got from potential clients only brought more self-doubts, with some months without any income. Thanks to my ever-supportive dad who was in his late 50s, the family could afford to eat from his taxi job.
The meeting was Ron Kaufman just on the verge of giving up changed my life forever. “In this world, nobody will value you until you become a somebody,” the celebrated global speaker. That was all it took for me to take my career more seriously.
What’s your secret to success?
Success can be categorized into short, medium, and long term. For short term success, Charisma is needed to attract all the help available. Medium-term success requires COMPETENCE to deliver exceptional customer experience while good CHARACTER traits like integrity, compassion, and humility will bring long term success.
What is your Unique Selling Point?
My biggest advantage is the relationship I have with my followers and customers. Whenever their peers are looking for help or their company wants a speaker, they happily promote me and speak well about me.
What keeps you motivated?
I want to be of help to as many people as possible and I love to see my followers, mentees, and loved ones happy and successful.
How do you help others?
I founded my business to teach salespeople and entrepreneurs how to use social media to reach their target audience, convert them to customers, and make them advocates of the brand.
The goal is to build an “online sales system” powered by social media to turn skeptical strangers into raving fans of the product or service.
