Will The Boston Celtics Win The 2024 NBA Championship

The Boston Celtics are the number one team in the NBA today. They snatched the top spot in the power rankings from the Denver Nuggets and are rooted to win the 2024 NBA Championship. Provided some factors, it’s not a surprise why the Boston Celtics are the favorite to win the 2024 NBA Championship.

Check out below and see why the Celtics could dominate this season’s championship game and bring the trophy home. It will help you better understand how huge the Boston Celtics’ chance is in winning the finals.

Celtics Have The Best Defense

The Boston Celtics made huge news in the offseason due to trading the 2022 Defensive player of the year, Marcus Smart for Kristaps Porzingis. Although the Celtics lost a quality defender, they got a skillful and elite offense-oriented big man in Porzingis.

To make up for the defensive hole left from the Marcus Smart trade, the Celtics got the second best defensive player last season in Jrue Holiday. In addition, the Celtics retained experienced big man Al Horford and two-way guard Derrick White.

The Celtics might have the top defense in the NBA, with a solid group of defenders surrounding Tatum and Brown going into 2024. This comes after Boston’s 110.6 team defensive rating from the previous season placed them second.

Strengthening their defense is also one reason the Boston Celtics odds improved this season compared to the previous seasons.

The Celtics Have Enough Playoff Experience

The Boston Celtics have many years of playoff experience, which is always one of the most important aspects in deciding a team’s success. The importance of playoff experience is vital not only in the NBA but also in other sports.

If you look into the Boston Celtics’ lineup, you will notice that the players have a decent experience in the NBA playoffs. Experience allows the players to improve their performance on the court by learning from their past mistakes and learning new strategies and approaches.

The Team Is Built To Win

It was mentioned earlier that signing Jrue Holiday has improved the team’s defense. Holiday’s outstanding playmaking skills are another primary advantage of having him on the roster.

Holiday fills a huge gap in the Celtics lineup by steadily setting up the defense and the offensive plays, even if he does not rank in the top percentile for playmaking among starting floor generals.

His ability to analyze the game, generate pressure from the defense, and execute quality passes greatly improves him in this area. Holiday is a formidable defensive player, and this move makes Boston difficult to play against.

To help Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown on offense, the Celtics acquired Kristaps Porzingis. Known as the “Unicorn,” Porzingis has solid range from three-point territory and can easily shoot over defenders due to his length.

The Team Has Solid Starting Lineups

Joe Mazzulla, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, announced the team’s starting five before their preseason game against the New York Knicks. The team established their starting five: Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis, and Jayson Tatum.

Looking at these names, you can automatically know that the Celtics have the most complete and solid starting lineup in the NBA this season. Mazzulla’s justification for his starting lineup could provide insight into what to expect throughout the playoffs.

And the team didn’t disappoint. They made it to the number-one spot as the best team this season. And it’s not the end yet. Although the season had just begun, the Boston Celtics have managed to climb to the 2nd spot in the east. All signs, however, point to a positive run for the Celtics this season.

However, it should be noted that Mazzulla has never stuck to a single starting lineup. The Celtics employed a total of 26 different lineups throughout the previous campaign. Marcus Smart, White, Brown, Tatum, and Horford made up the small ball lineup used in most games.

This strategy might also be one of the reasons why the Boston Celtics are becoming successful in achieving their ultimate goal, which is to be the 2024 NBA Finals champions.

The Celtics Now Have Other Ways To Score Aside From Their 3-Pointers

The Celtics’ over-reliance on 3-pointers was one of their problems from the previous campaign. Consequently, the Celtics struggled to find alternative ways to score when these attempts failed.

This was seen frequently during the Eastern Conference Finals matchup with the Heat. But with the updated Celtics roster, this isn’t the case this season anymore. Having a great offensive player in the lineup, the team can now score without relying on their 3-pointers.

Final Words

Given the reasons provided above, there is a significant chance that the Boston Celtics will win the 2024 Finals. That said, it’s expected that many bettors will root for the team because the Celtics will still likely be the best team this season.
