“2x TED Talk Speaker, Megan Gallagher, Creates Mental Health Workbook, “How To Thrive In The Virtual Classroom”, For Teenagers During Covid-19”

This year has been challenging for the entire globe. With everyone, of all races and ages, being affected financially and physically. Yet no one is talking about how we are being affected mentally. With suicide rates higher than ever, and depression on the rise, there is many who are on their last string of hope.

There is however, one girl, who is doing her part to make a positive change. Meet, Megan Gallagher, 25 year old TED talk speaker and mental health advocate. The young mogul, from California, has taken action regarding the mental health needs of teenagers across the globe.

“I just reached a point where I had seen too much pain and loss, I had to make a change. As someone who has gone through extreme anxiety at times, I couldn’t not do something. Currently, I am working on an interactive journal for students, specifically teenagers”, she said.

So many people are suffering and barely hanging on. With new laws being passed everyday and Governor’s not addressing the mental health needs of their cities. Gallagher has chosen to be the leader she wants to see and will launch this workbook in March 2021.

The workbook will include pages filled with journaling sections, tips for creating a healthy classroom from home and how teens can become emotionally aware.

The truth is for adults, this time will come and go, with some anxiety. Yet for teenagers, this time is traumatizing. That is one time in your life you only get once. From missing out on prom dances, getting their driver’s license to having to graduate over zoom, teenagers everywhere are suffering emotionally.

Megan, has spoken at over 750 Universities in the past seven years, has launched multiple courses, youtube videos and created content centered around mental health and today’s youth.

The 3x best selling Author, plans to publish this new book, next year. The goal in creating this workbook, as Gallagher explained is, “ Wanting to create a safe place for teenagers. I want them to feel that this book is secure and helpful for expressing all of their feelings. They all are suffering right now. Can you imagine being a teenager in covid? We’ve all been there…body changes, peer pressure and hormones, yet add this crazy virtual school year! Talk about unpredictable! I have been coaching teenagers for the past seven years, and I’ve never seen it as bad as it is now. It truly breaks my heart seeing how many of them are suffering, crying themselves to sleep and contemplating ending their life. Something has to be done immediately”.

The workbook aims to be an interactive journal, where teenagers can work through their feelings, fears and emotions. Gallagher also added, “ I want this to book to empower teenagers everywhere! This will help them take their power back. They can remember that regardless of whichever season of life they are in, they get to choose! This book reminds them that their thoughts create feelings which in turn create behavior! If they ever want to know why they don’t feel good, they can check in with their thoughts”.

According to a recent study done by The CDC, suicide rates have gone up by 40.9% since Covid-19 began in March of 2020, for all ages. Surprisingly, In the 13-18 age range, suicide rates have increased by 30%.

With the recent Covid-19 vaccine giving hope, the mental health effects and trauma that this pandemic has caused, may last a lifetime for some. We all need to come together and share kindness, advice and helpful tips in order to regain strength.

As Gallagher states, she wants teenagers to not just survive this virtual school year, but she wants them to thrive!

Look for Megan’s new book, hitting shelves and Amazon in March 2021!
