An Employee to an Entrepreneur – The Awe-Inspiring Journey of Alana Parks

We all have dreamt of walking away from the daily grind and never looking back, haven’t we? Well, it’s a reality that most people today don’t feel a real connection to their jobs. 

As per the latest Gallup State of the American Workplace report, almost 70% of employees are disengaged at work or not engaged at all — they are just there. Yes, that is how corporate life is! No wonder there are plenty of entrepreneurs out there making money doing what they love.

So if you’ve decided that you’d like to start a business, it is very much possible to turn this dream of yours into a reality. The key to going from employee to entrepreneur is to know yourself, plan well and set realistic goals.

And that’s exactly what Alana Parks, a creative digital marketer, and owner of POST Inc. did! She founded  POST Inc. in Houston in 2018 and is currently based in Manhattan, NY with a virtual team in the US and the UK.

If you had asked Alana 5 years ago where she thinks she would be now, she never would have said that she would be having her own creative digital marketing agency in Manhattan. And you wouldn’t find it hard to believe since she worked with one of the most lucrative businesses in America i.e. Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery Practices. 

Frankly speaking, she never wanted to be an entrepreneur, or be her own boss as she truly didn’t think she was cut out for it.

But it was in early 2017 that she lost her job and didn’t have a choice but to find something that could help her pay the bills quickly. Alana realized it was great growing her side hustle into a full-time job, and quickly building a 6 figure team around her.

It’s great to say that she now loves what she does, which is mostly the creative side of marketing. Though she ultimately aims to build this into a business that can operate on its own and also hopes to teach others how to do the same thing. 

She feels blessed to be able to build a digital community of 50,000+ small business owners. Besides, she also has had the honor to speak alongside billionaires Mark 

Cuban and Sally Krawcheck at a 2021 financial summit for young entrepreneurs.

And recently Alana partnered with the largest, fastest-growing social media platform to help coach small business owners on social media marketing. 

Alana is a living example of the fact that achievements don’t normally align with purpose, and even though she had been a part of the expansion of many elective surgeries practices, she found more purpose in helping other business owners in the marketing space.
