‘An exclusive interview with The Premed Consultants’ CEO Adam Nessim

A fourth-year medical student and the founder of an educational consultancy that helps students with the right techniques to ace the medical entrance exams, Adam Nessim is a young gun full of energy and enthusiasm who aims to create positive change in people’s lives.
We recently had a conversation with the young CEO of The Premeds Consultants. Here are the excerpts:
How can one divide attention between a medical course and a business venture?
Being a student and an entrepreneur at the same time is like buying a ticket to a time management class. One has to be a master when it comes to managing time, and perhaps that is one of the prime reasons behind my success. I am pursuing an MD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York. And getting through a curriculum in medicine is challenging and can be stressful at times. At the same time, I also founded an educational consultancy that helps transform students to succeed in their classes, on the MCAT, and get into medical school. I am full of energy and enthusiasm in life, and I aim to create a positive change in people’s lives.
How is your venture, The Premed Consultants, addressing the learning gap in premed test preparation?
We provide aspiring medical students the right tools to strategically prepare for their exams. It helps them get top scores and subsequent admissions in reputed medical schools. I founded The Premed Consultants to help students ace the MCAT test using effective learning methods suited to individual styles. It is, of course, challenging at times to run my consultancy and study for my courses, but I use the same effective time management strategies I teach my student to be able to give equal priority to both.
Can you throw some light on your advanced study techniques to hit the bull’s eye with MCAT?
I am a strong believer in waking up early and encourage students to do their hardest tasks in the morning. Furthermore, I encourage active study techniques such as doing tons of practice questions and using spaced repetition to improve memorization of information. We have students start these strategies from the very beginning of their prep which gives them a competitive advantage from their competition.
How did you use the power of social media to promote your business?
To build the brand image of my education consultancy and promote the differentiating services it offers, I use the most cost-effective, new-age marketing techniques on social media that ensure a high return on my investment. With an active presence on Instagram and TikTok, I’ve leveraged the power of social media to reach out to thousands of students to offer my value-added teaching techniques to excel as a student.
When did you decide to become an entrepreneur?
The seed of entrepreneurship was planted in my growing years. I always engaged in some side hustle to generate a small income. Probably, later as I matured, this pre-medical consultancy, which took birth in my mind as a side hustle, turned into a thriving full-fledged business, and it is growing exponentially year on year.
What caused you to take the entrepreneurial plunge?
Before starting my business, I worked as an MCAT instructor for two years at a major test prep company. During this time, I noticed a gap in the industry and the reasons why many students fail despite being studious and dedicated. It was the issue with learning techniques, and improper guidance from an earlier stage in the students’ career where most test prep companies and advisors failed students. I decided I was going to create something to address these needs which is why I founded The Premed Consultants to be an all-inclusive premed advising program.
Early days of respect for healthcare workers
On being asked why he chose to be a doctor, Adam refers to his childhood memories of getting inflicted with multiple sports injuries and taking the help of doctors to recover from those. From thereon, he realized the importance of healthcare professionals and the remarkable work that they undertake each day to help patients overcome their ailments.
Adam envisions a long career practicing as a physician and playing a guiding role in the lives of other future doctors by supporting them to prepare efficiently throughout their medical careers.
