Badr El Battahi Speaks About His Switch From One Business to Another and His Future Plans

For any entrepreneur, one business won’t suffice. There comes a time to explore different fields as and when the business grows. Moroccan-based entrepreneur Badr El Battahi started his social media agency named ‘SociWork’ in 2015. Started on a small scale, it went on to become a gamechanger for him. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, he is an alumnus of Harvard University with a degree in Computer Science.

In 2011, Badr moved to Abu Dhabi after completing his studies. Currently based in Dubai, Battahi has learnt the A to Z of social media marketing and is the noteworthy name across the UAE. The entrepreneur is an influencer himself with a following of more than a million on Instagram. Battahi takes us through his rollercoaster life journey, the success of his first company, the birth of his second company and reveals his future plans.

A new world

Till the time you don’t experience or witness something, the thing is always novel for you. Social media was the unexplored world for Mr Battahi. The Moroccan entrepreneur with a degree in Computer Science from the prestigious Harvard University decided to learn social media marketing after his studies.

He says the decision came from within and he felt 9 years back that social media will be the next big thing. Well, that is true now. With self-learning, Badr embraced this new world of social media and started ‘SociWork’. The social media agency majorly promotes budding actors, artists, bloggers and singers digitally.

Devoting all his time in social media, Badr learnt one thing at a time. “With managing social media pages, I learnt how to boost social media growth organically. The best thing is all social media platforms are different from one another with different algorithms”, he added. Meeting the best requirements of the clients, social media has changed his life forever.

Overcoming challenges

Work without challenges is no fun. Challenges are a part and parcel of every business. Badr also had his own challenges when he started the social media agency. Besides competition, it was a task to find clients.

The entrepreneur stated that everyone is fascinated by big brand names. The major problem his company faced was finding the clients. “My company ‘SociWork’ did not have backing from any influential personality. Initially, I struggled to find clients but once I cracked the code, I got an ample number of clients through recommendations and strong word of mouth”, he said.

He even stated that competition was never a challenge for him. The entrepreneur has always emphasized quality over numbers and since then, the ball has been in his court. His focus has been customer satisfaction at an affordable price and the work of ‘SociWork’ speaks for the company’s goodwill.

A new business opportunity

Post the success of ‘SociWork’, Battahi launched his own sneaker brand named ‘Richsneaker’. The collection of sneakers grabbed the attention of millennials and teenagers. It was another successful venture which changed Badr’s fortunes.

The sales of the sneakers went past one million and it is by far the most important highlight of his career. He said, “It’s all about going and growing with the market trends. We did not imagine that the brand would become such a smash hit among the people.” The entrepreneur even stated that the brand will most probably be coming up with another premium collection of sneakers by the year-end.

Bringing out the versatility

It is a known fact that Badr El Battahi is a top-class entrepreneur and a lifestyle influencer. His Instagram feed is filled with luxury lifestyle and his travel stories. He has something interesting in the store coming up for the aspiring entrepreneurs as well.

Besides this, Badr is also an app developer and a website developer. In the past, he has developed mobile apps for android as well as iOS devices. SEO, YouTube marketing, Google analytics are the add-ons he learnt as a part of social media marketing.

Currently, the entrepreneur is making himself skilled in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and blockchain. He is more likely to integrate it into his businesses to bring the latest technological advancements.

Future plans

Mr Battahi’s upcoming line of businesses is more likely to be focused on social shopping and artificial intelligence. He says that running at the same pace as technology is very significant for any business.

Besides this, he is also planning to launch his own fashion label. The brand is said to have the best clothing for teenagers and entrepreneurs. Mr Battahi is still in the initial stage of brand development and he chose to not speak much about it at this point of time.
