Founder & Host of WIM: What is Movement, Courtenay Turner on How to Build Resilience Using Movement Mindset to Overcome Business & Life Challenges

I haven’t found a person as passionate about inspiring others to move as Courtenay Turner. “All human beings are designed to move and the ways in which they do are their unique creative expressions,” she says. Courtenay is on a mission to inspire millions worldwide to “move as they wish and explore their body’s potential.” Having spent time on worldwide stages speaking about movement, Courtenay has created awareness of healing gifts that she says, “can be uncovered as we explore our physical expressions.” Courtenay speaks from experience. She has thrived in the face of adversity, being told by doctors that no viable treatment existed, Courtenay & her parents took measures into their own hands! Using a creative “movement mindset” she built resilience and overcame physical, emotional, and mental challenges to be successful both in business and in personal life.
They Said She Wouldn’t Make It
Courtenay was born with multiple health conditions, no one thought she would make it past her childhood let alone exhibit great feats of athleticism. She had congenital rubella syndrome, which rendered her with several medical complications including unilateral blindness, bilateral hearing impairment, heart complications, hypotonia, fine and graphic motor impairment, stunted growth, asymmetrical bone development and more. As someone that someone hungers for knowledge & creative expression, Courtenay has spent most of her life exploring the human psyche via academic pursuits while turning to movement for healing and self-expression. She believes that movement unlocks the healing gifts that occur naturally within us.
Find the Mind, Body & Spirit Connection
According to Courtenay these healing gifts are found in the complex notion of the age old Decartesean duality that is the human experience. She says, “we are indeed complex creatures intertwined by mind, body & spirit.” Whenever Courtenay is on stage, she is equipping entrepreneurs and business owners alike with the strategies of articulating these themes into tangible terms that can help them face challenges in their daily lives. Using her own life experience, Courtenay continually imparts tools and wisdom for others to use their physical experiences as a mirror to help them improve their mindset and emotional well-being.
Leverage the Connection to Build Resilience
Courtenay’s first hand experience with a myriad of challenging conditions and overcoming them, places her in the best position to help anyone who is facing tough times either in business or personal life. Each time she overcomes an obstacle, Courtenay proves to herself she is capable and it fortifies her to forge ahead. When overcoming challenges becomes a habit, resilience is born. Courtenay says, “As children, we face challenges constantly, and we cannot function if we don’t face them and learn from them. As adults, we have more luxury of complacency, but the drawback is we cheat ourselves of the opportunities for growth.” She believes that when we engage our mind, body and soul to face and overcome challenges, we will evolve both individually and as a species.
See Difficulties as an Opportunity for Growth!
Courtenay has evolved into a resilient woman. “I am most proud to have the opportunity to inspire and help others to reach their highest potential! It is an honor to be able to use my darkest pain and the things I have spent my life (and still work at) overcoming to help others! working everyday to exude hope through her show and brand, WIM: what is movement. She has a vision to inspire people to tap into their physical home (their bodies) and to learn from her story and the inspiring stories of other movement experts how to create what she calls a “movement mindset” to build resilience, overcome adversity & heal themselves mentally, physically, emotionally & spiritually. So in the end, there will be a whole generation who, instead of seeing adversity as a barrier to success and happiness, they see it as an opportunity for growth. On her show, Courtenay speaks on these topics while performing aerial acrobatics as part of the event to show what is possible when people believed it wasn’t.
